Skyburners Annex: PvE Opinion

Hello, fellow guardians. I'd like to take a moment to discuss the Skyburners Annex. I have been playing with mine for a while, now, and from the things I've been seeing online, it seems surprisingly underrated. For me, this is currently tied with Ahamkara Graps as my favorite hunter (Nightstalker) exotic. When I need to play conservatively and just survive or solo, sure the grasps with stealth bombs are personally my obvious pick. However when I'm in a good fireteam and we just want to wreck face, the nightstalker synergy with this is just insane. Here's why I love it: 1. Heavy kills can make orbs for allies and gets you your own super even quicker. With swords being a thing, now, heavy ammo can go a long ways, and really help you capitalize on these effects. 2. Shadowshot kills are counted as the weapon that dealt damage. This means blood bound with 1-2 sword swings on 1 enemy in a mob of trash or majors kills them all, likely hits your super orb cap, makes bonus orbs with Light Of The Pack, and makes even more orbs off of skyburners, and gets you decent portion of your super back. 3. If you aren't in situations to run a sword, Telesto works just as good, or better, with shadowshot. Because of your orb generating, your buddies are supering and making you orbs more often, which means your super's almost always up, which means you can get Telesto ammo off there excessive orbs drops, and just Teles-plosion things for days. 4. This is simpler and more obvious, but if you run something like black spindle for strikes and raids, this helmet helps you keep a your ammo reserves high, much more constantly, thus leading to more consistent DPS without having to juggle ammo synthesis. 5. My last note is just icing on the convenience cake. The final perk (from what I've seen) always seems to be an "on orb pickup" effect. Because this helmet lets you pick up orbs without expending your super, you means you get substantially more benefit from this perk, than if it were on any other helmet. Ex. Idk about you, but when I needed health on hard Crota, it was annoying to have to waste a super, just to be able pick up an orb and proc my invigorate. I'd rather keeps my super, proc invigorate, and get a few bonus sniper rounds in reserves. So anyways, this is why I love the Skyburners Annex so much. I just feels so versatile and fun. As long as I'm not soloing, or in a mission that will likely require excessive stealth, I'm always wearing this. I'd love to hear what you guys think, especially if you have arguments against this, or recommendations on other exotic options you think would fill this PvE Nightstalker support role more effectively. Thanks for your time, guys!

  • There is one HORRIFIC drawback (hinted around) among everything you said correctly: When you pick up an orb, your super AND your special FULL, IT STILL PICKS UP ORBS.This actually sucks because when you are in a KF raid you have to take time to switch helmets in order to do "orb management" and not use all the orbs that others are generating for you. So you know when I get to do SS? @ Oryx to start off.
