grinding for flayer mantles will be the end of me
topic name is topic name.
so is it confirmed you can just farm the lv20 directory dust palace? i googled it a lot and of course, google says no to what you wanna search for.
side note: what's the longest you've grinded for and for what?

Just wait for the Nightfall, I got all 3 cloaks in about 5-6 nightfalls

6 RepliesI've gotten Baron's Ambition 4 times, I'm sick of it. I lucked out with the solar mantle though, because my favorite Hunter Subclass is Gunslinger and his faction is New Monarchy, so it fits.

Try using a class that isn't a hunter, maybe that will help. All of my strike gear dropped on a class that it wasn't for

5 RepliesGrinded 4 hours for the SABER warlock helmet. I did the math and it is about 2% drop rate (ran 50 strikes with 1 drop). Just keep running it. You should get them at around 50-100 times through. If you think about it, a low level strike takes about 10 minutes so about 6 hours of running the strike consistently should net you a drop.

1 ReplyLast time it was nightfall i did it about 15 times (in one day) to try and get one, any color idgaf. Got 6 treads upon stars. Not one flayer mantle. Almost every run one of my friends got it. Dont think ive ever raged so hard in my life. Ill give it a go next time it hits nightfall.

5 RepliesI have the exotic Dead Orbit hunter cloak, but think it's pretty ugly, so decided to grind for the Flayers Mantle (any one but solar). Your best bet is the heroic playlist, since the buff helps a lot. I was able to get the Arc Mantle last night (ran that strike so many damn times). Arc mantle with Glowoo (same color) and Sky Burners helmet is the way to go. You just glow!!

I would wait until the next nightfall dust palace. Last week I went through the Cerberus vae nightfall 4 times and got 4 treads upon stars ergo I feel the nightfalls have better chance to drop strike loot

These types of drops are more common during the nightfall just run that.

3 RepliesI was the same as you, trust me, when Nightfall comes for the Dust Palace, they have a 1/3 chance of dropping a legendary, so just do them. The cloaks are ugly now because I have all 3 of them. Definitely not worth the grind.

3 RepliesBest to grind for it when the strike is the nightfall. I drove myself crazy doing heroic strikes and the level 20 strike over and over. Then did the nightfall about 6 times and got the solar and the arc mantle.

Next time it is post on LFG that you're running people through the nightfall killing a certain one last for the mantle. And run it with people, let them switch characters run it again. Find a new group and do it again. Your chance are way higher since they changed it to where the boss at the end doesn't drop legendary engrams, just Treads Upon Stars and Mantles

I found that the strike specific loot has a much higher chance of dropping when the nightfall is on. I got mine from doing dust palace nightfall a few weeks ago, so happy. Three others from my raid team got it that nightfall too.

It was waaaayy easier to get the flayer mantles when the Dust palace strike was the nightfall because of the higher drop rate of legendary items at the end of the strike. Still possible in level 20 I think, just an extremely low drop rate. I've gotten the solar and arc mantles from when the Dust Palace was the nightfall :)
