Praying isn't going to do anything for Paris. If you REALLY want to help, go donate to any number of organizations helping them. Stop looking for "look at me" items to show that you care, when in reality, you -blam!-ing don't. All you want is to stand out and be praised for your bullshit excuse for support.

  • You know you bashed at least 3 religions by saying that.

  • I've already donated money, myself. So I appreciate the sentiment behind that. But the reality is that a community like this one has an ability to be mobilized in a helpful manner, and not only would something like this generate revenue for relief efforts, but it would also let the players, themselves, show their moral support in-game. And "In-Game" expression is largely what makes Destiny so great, don't you think?

  • No, player differentiation does not make destiny great. Because just like in Vanilla, and TDB, and HoW, everyone -blam!-ing looks the same with very minor deviations. Destiny is not a diverse game. Do I love it? Yes. Do I love the "diversity"? No. I love the grind. The grind is what keeps people coming back. Not diversity. While this is a large community with massive potential, in the grand scheme of things, the reason for us to band together and support something is probably toxic because you're promoting this idea that all those who "help" are good, and anyone who doesn't sucks, and you're subconsciously labeling those people when you don't see a stupid shader or emblem which people won't use after a week anyways. How often do you see the Nepal shader or emblem? I've seen 1 in the last 3 months. That being said, did we, as a community, raise a good chunk of change? Absolutely. But there shouldn't be a gimmick involved to try and draw you in. If you really care, donate. And props to you for doing that. But encouraging this behavior of praising those who do something for a minuscule and silly reward is damaging in the long run. Don't look for a game to give you gratification. Find self gratification and be happy without shit you'll cast to the side in a week.

  • Who care if people use the shader or not? I used the same shader for 2 months, then didn't touch it again. It's not about how often someone uses the Shader. Sure. It gives you the option of showing it, and maybe visually encourages other to donate, which is the point of it, but the real motivation is the fact that, as a community, for some motivation as simple as an aesthetic shader, we could raise $25-million or MORE to help a worthy cause. Shouldn't that be more important? Isn't that worth it? My gratification comes from the idea that this community, as a whole, could be mobilized for something better than being a bunch of assholes who Teabag each other in the Crucible, or, god forbid, see someone trying to make a helpful idea on the forums, and acting like assholes to them because of it. Does that last bit sound like anyone you know?

  • The thing is though is that your idea isn't helpful at all. It makes the community more toxic, and everyone feel more entitled. No one is entitled to anything but the fruits of your labor. What you're doing here is one among 100's of other post about the same bullshit. No one here is actually capable of making Bungie do this. When Bungie did do this for Nepal, it was a logistical shitshow for them getting the codes and shirts and other bullshit out to people. This would make people hesitant to do this again because, like I said, this community looks for material rewards and not any kind of gratification. This idea would fail. Horribly. While any help is good help, it wouldn't be a good use of this community. Hell, nothing is a good use of this community because it's toxic as -blam!-. Toxic and stupid.

  • Wish you could tell that to the infomercials about abused animals and starving children in Somalia. I still to this day cannot get the image out of my head of the little boy that just let that fly sit on his eyeball like that. Ugghhh!

  • Suggesting a way to motivate people to donate for a good cause is "Toxic"? Really? You have an ass-backwards idea of what's toxic, man. I don't know what else to say to that. Thanks for the input, but I think, if there is a source of toxicity in this community, you're a larger part of it than you realize.
