The no knights strategy. Some swear by it, others swear at it. Personally, I think it is the worst strategy possible. There are just too many variables that could lead to a death and a failure. Go ahead, spend hours on it. The reality is, if you just learned to pop two bullets into a knights head you would be helping out the community a lot more. Success rate for normal is a lot higher than that of no knights, and if more people know normal then more people will be able to successfully complete oryx in a reasonable amount of time. Unfortunately human nature is to try and figure out the easiest way to do things, even if it involves negating a raid mechanic (cheesing, as its become known), and makes it harder on people who choose to do it the correct and easier way. No knights may be easier for groups with less coordination and skill, but to kill four knights is really not hard at all. Youre only cheating yourselves.
Edit: thank you to @ important shank for saying something i failed to realize. No knights is probably better for lower levels, but at higher levels regular is just as easy
Edit 2: im saying a coordinated group and do regular just as easy as a good group can do no knights. I did in fact say it was my opinion not yours.

It all depends on team. No knight = too many variables Knight = need good team No knight may be "easier" only if all the variables go your way.

1 ReplyEdited by Shadow Artiste: 11/15/2015 12:22:40 PMSure, the no knight strategy eliminates the knights and a few adds from the encounter ... but I prefer having the following sentences eliminated from the encounter: "Ok, stop shooting that ogre" "Whoops, I killed that ogre, someone get the knight" "I've got the relic but this ogres are DPSing me" "Someone please get that ogre aggro" "Sorry guys the ogres killed me before I could get the buff" "I got the buff the but the ogres sent me flying" "Sorry guys, ogre killed me on the way up" "Back/front ogres still need some DPS before oryx slams" "Back ogres are down, are the front ones down yet?" "Where the hell is my ogre" "Don't detonate, the front/back ogres are still up" "Dammit my ogre is really far away, don't detonate yet" "Crap, the vessel got my blight" "Crap, the vessel was at my blight and he killed me!" "Crap, the a knight got my blight as I was disarming it" "Crap, I couldn't detonate cause a knight was gonna kill me" "Sorry guys, I couldn't detonate because my ogre was too far away" "Sorry guys, I didn't make it back to the bubble cause my blight was too far away"

2 RepliesHaving run both strategies many times, I'm convinced that anyone who claims that the no knights strat involves lots of death must have little idea how it works. If people are doing it properly, it's almost impossible to take damage, much less die. On the plates? SIT DOWN. press down on your D pad. Don't shoot. Just look around and wait. Running relic and getting shot? Your agility is too low. Up top and getting hurt? How? I don't even know. I've been in all roles. I virtually never, ever, even get damaged. People think "how hard is it to kill a knight" and miss the point entirely. Killing the knight spawns adds that are most often the cause of death for the people on plates in normal strat, especially on the plates farthest from spawn. Not killing ogres means you can just sit and relax. Even if you find both strategies easy, as I do, easier beats harder any day.
-
I can do either strategy. Beat Oryx twice with the No Night Strat easily last night and quickly. It will always come down to who is on your team.
-
2 Repliesactually, if the majority of players, according to lfg postings, are using the no knight strat, that would mean that it is the normal, common, most used strat then! on the other hand, killing everything is uncommon, least used or not normally used method...
-
No knight strat is for scrubs tbh
-
It's a matter of opinion. If you have competent people you can flawlessly execute both strategies with ease. If you don't, have fun kicking people out:)

Ran no Knight with a team the other day and it was pain free Straight through to oryx Personally I don't even have to think about it now, whether I'm on a plate or up shooting ogres For the life of me I don't understand why people find it so difficult? I welcome challenge mode - it's too easy by either method right now!
-
2 RepliesIt's OK. Challenge mode is coming and the No knight strategy won't work anymore. Then they will have to learn to kill everything.
-
The best strategy is not to be a dick and come to a decision. If doesn't work after 2-3 tries then switch to the other strategy. Simple. They are both easy imo.
-
The easiest way is to kill the Knights. If two people up top can't help out with knights and ogres with weapons and blessings, your team is bad.
-
I doesn't even matter, either way is just as easy to me.
-
I agree. The only problem is: The three guys on the platforms need to be fast with their knights or the adds become a problem. But it's still easier than the no knight strategy, IF everyone knows exactly what to do.
-
Why would you even do the No Knight strat? I mean like if you can turn around and put 2 sniper bullets into a knight well then you shouldn't be doing the raid
-
Hard oryx with no nights took a whopping 15 minutes today with no wipes. I don't see the big deal. It's only hard if you play with idiots.
-
1 ReplyEdited by Darches: 11/15/2015 7:56:50 AMIt only sucks because -blam!-ing noobs keep dying. People are used to easy mode VoG and easy mode CE. They don't have what it takes. When done properly the no knight strategy is a cake walk because literally nothing can kill you. NOTHING SPAWNS. The knights are not the problem. It's the damn acolytes and centurions that cross map me >:( There's just 1 caveat: Runner burned by vessel and 2 ogres during brand-steal animation. Bad luck can ruin your run. But that's pretty rare.
-
10 hard oryx kills for me. 6 no knight, 4 regular. Both are fun and challenging...I like to mix it up. No knight is easier if the whole team actually commits to it and does it correctly.

15 RepliesEdited by Liberty WaIk: 11/14/2015 9:15:00 PMI will be upfront here. For the longest time I called the "no knight" strat a cheese and finally kinda learned the strat after only doing it the normal way. What I have noticed is both strats work fine with competent folks. But I found that if you're speed running the fight "no knight" seems to be much faster than the normal strat to me and you can loose 1 or even 2 people and still beat oryx with only 4. Doing normal strat you pretty much need everyone alive through the entire fight. You can maybe loose one but if you loose two it's a wipe. Not so with "no knight" strat. You can keep going. So both strats have pros and cons. But I agree you need a solid relic runner for no knight to succeed.
-
Edited by Rexty: 11/15/2015 7:55:01 AMIts just more Luck based. happens alot, that the runner is punched out mid Air from ogres....but the Game and the whole Hard fights are a big pit of rng...so who cares
-
5 completions. 1 no knight. 4 normal. So far normals have gone quicker. I usually call out each phase and we do timers for blighted orbs. Too bad the loot is complete trash every time
-
3 RepliesWhere the hell did you get that Info? When ever I play with a group of randoms and we use no knight strat it's easy, maybe you should just git gud.
-
I did it with ransoms pretty easily. I guess I got lucky
-
The way I do it is the 1,2,3 stationary and the 2 front 2 back. 3 people pick a number whoever is number 1 will jump on the first pad and 2 on the 2nd pad and 3 on the 3rd pad in that order everytime in that order and 2 up front will get the ogre orbs upfront and 2 in back everytime. For instance if I'm number 1 I'll always jump on the first pad (oryx's fist bump pad). Then I'll get one of the orbs in the front. That easy. No stationary pads only 1,2,3 and 2 front and 2 back if you know what I'm saying
-
7 RepliesI'm only 2 completions off yours and I can tell you from doing it both ways that no Knights is better faster and easier. With some practice no one should be wiping from these variables you claim cause problems. A guy we met on LFG couldn't beat oryx at all so he joined my group and we beat it for him on all 3 of his characters in about 45mins using rotating platforms + no Knights strat Easy, effective, simple, fast
