The hate for Destiny exists because of the circumstances of the game's release. This hatred has carried on because of bad desicion after bad desicion that Bungie makes when putting out updates. If you don't already know, the original Destiny was a watered down lack luster game that shocked everyone because it was nothing like we were promised. The story made no sense and people quickly ran out of things to do. Naturally, people felt ripped off. Following this, Bungie tried to create artificial content by increasing the grind in the Dark Below DLC. This included the weapon upgrade path and the hard mode of the raid, which was just the same thing as the normal raid with a few extra wizards. Again, the raid overall was a joke and extremely lack luster, as it was solo'd within a week. These events pretty much solidified a constant body of hate towards the game. The concept of literally being scammed for playing 60 dollars for a game that was nothing like they promised and a DLC that was just as content lacking, and additional 20$. People still stuck around because they'd like to believe that the game still had hope and potential to improve from the shitty shell of what had been released. However, one thing that really set fire to the community was Bungie's extreme inability to balance the multiplayer. Prior, to The Dark Below, Bungie was pretty efficient in applying balances to weapons with slight auto rifle nerfs, mythloclast nerfs, class buffs, etc. However, they eventually got tired of auto rifles dominating and put out a huge weapon tuning patch that effectively made auto rifles useless and pulse rifles better, which lead everyone to the next best weapon, handcannons (February). This handcannons era was downright ridiculous, namely with weapons such as The Last Word and Thorn. These guns would kill enemies in 2 bullets from virtually any distance and was the cause of much rage, in addition to the pre-existing rage. However, when HOW dropped in May, things got even more out of control. The addition of re-rolling gave everyone a hand cannon, top tier shotguns, and a top tier rocket to run around. Pair with the prevalence of primarily close quarters maps, this made games a living hell for some people. With the introduction of Trials of Osiris, the salt was only that much more painful. What gets most people, is why did it take Bungie 7 months to balance these weapons in the Taken King, when they could balance other weapons within a few weeks? It is also important to note, that after the Dark Below, Bungie promised they would never release a grind fest like progression system again. However, that was a spit in the face of players, as that's literally what they sold in the Taken King to all the players, with 320 light armor being totally RNG, forcing players to grind endlessly for max level, among other things (eg. time-gated exotics, legendary marks etc) That my friend, is why there is so much hate towards Destiny. A collection of bullshit and poor desicions by the developer as viewed by the community.

Micro + DLC= greedy ass company

Ever had some food that is advertised as the best thing ever, then when you actually eat that food, it's not all everyone said it was supposed to be? Destiny is like that... hyped to be great but isn't all that. People are upset because they want it to be great, and they believe in Bungie's former ability with Halo, but Bungie keeps doing things to Destiny that are making the game very dull, lackluster, and just barely fun. To sum it up, Destiny is the hot girl with bad breath and an annoying laugh. And her feet smell like corn chips. People are just venting because they love Destiny and want it to be better. With a few major tweaks, it can get there, but Bungie is too worried about Emotes, and Microtransactions.

*Puts on helmet* Because players have unrealistic expectations. Because people don't understand that a game changes during development. Because between E3 and the release, the game was basically re-built from scratch, and it showed. Because players want to be handed the weapons they want in the game, and get pissed off when it doesn't happen. Because people are convinced that an evil company had the game 100% completely produced and on the disc that they bought, but locked it all away from them and extorted them for more money so the could play it. And no matter how much this is debunked, they will still believe it. Because people who couldn't program a video game to save their own lives think it should take only a few minutes to reprogram everything in a video game to be the way they want it to be. Because players want the gear and classes they have to be OP, but want everything else nerfed. And when it happens, they want it put back the way it was. Because people say the game doesn't have enough to do, and also that it takes too long to get everything. Because you'll NEVER please everyone. Because happy people don't generally post long lists of what makes them happy; they're too busy being happy. (Notice how no newspaper ever has a letter to the editor about how great things are in this country, and how we should keep going down the track we're on? Nope, it's all complaints.) Because internet anonymity makes it easy to write things you wouldn't dream of saying in person. Because trolls. *Prepares mute button and awaits replies*
