But seriously they're making themselves look like a joke now. This is a video game not cutco. Jesus they're desperate
Edit: guys I did see the stuff about Sherpa that you're talking about and that's all well and good but it wouldn't be called refer a friend if it was just rewards for sherpaing people who already have the game.

Social game introduces refer a friend. Millennials flip out.

1 ReplyWhat a joke! So they expect the same community that requires gjallahorn, or tom, or a flawless emblem to all of a sudden start helping new players??? Funniest thing I've read this month.
-
I find it really hard to believe that kids are going to be asking for Destiny this xmas given the fact a lot of other great games will be available. As far as me referring this game to a friend? Ya f*ckin right. No one in their right mind is going to suggest that a friend buy this game in it's current state. I would never tell a friend to ask for chores for xmas.

2 RepliesThey are following the footsteps of WoW.

Refer a friend. = Pyramid scheme. Pyramid scheme Pyramid Pyramids are made up of triangles. Triangles Triangles are the symbol of the Illuminati. Schemes Schemes are evil. The illuminati is scheming to take over the world. Scheme rhymes with scary dream. Dreams You have dreams when you close your eyes. Eyes The symbol of the Illuminati is an eye. The illuminati built the pyramids to scheme after they have scary dreams and to scheme to build more pyramids. The latest Illuminati scheme is, Refer a friend. They want people to refer a friend they think would be willing to join The Illuminati, after joining, they will be forced to build more pyramids. This is an evil scheme that must be stopped. The refer a friend program = pyramid scheme. Pyramids are built by the Illuminati who schemed up the refer a friend program in order to recruit workers (friends) to build pyramids. So, the conclusion. Refer a friend program = pyramid scheme. Pyramid schemes are evil. The Illuminati are evil. Refer a program = Illuminati confirmed.

1 ReplyYea why are we getting paid in content to get people to play their game
-
But I've heard that Essential Oils really work guys!! #referafriend
-
Yes yes we are
-
Lol I attended Cutco seminars a few years ago. It was hilarious.
-
Lol! Don't fall for the trap guardians. I live Destiny but it's up to bungie to bring people in. Make it great and then I can tell everyone who cares about it!
-
A shall not let a brother of mine fall into a pit of darkness as i myself have.
-
It is pretty dumb. Don't want this to turn into a pay-to-win mobile game. What is going on there?
-
Meh, refer a friend is common in mmo style games. Doesn't take anything away from the game.
-
Refer a friend now and you'll earn the Herbalife-Sponsored SHADER for only 299 silver
-
All Bungie is focusing on right now is money. If they would focus on the players and listen to suggestions (as I have seen many great things that would make the game so good) instead of just throwing in a nerf here and there to quiet the crowds. This game could be so much better, and I feel that it has great potential, but this game will not move forward until the producers do.

Refer a friend and get something like the collectors edition exotic class item that useless? Why don't they give something unique like experience bonus to fireteam? Now that will be a good "refer" a friend item while your helping out your friend(s) or other account.
-
Lmao cutco.. I definitely worked for them when I was a teen
-
Referring is OK for f2p
-
What is this all about?
-
Your game should recruit people, not the customers. Again, valuing the product higher than the consumer.
-
I plan on making multiple fake accounts and acting like I referred them. I don't care how much it costs. I want whatever they haven't given us yet!!!
-
Warning. Boring answer ahead. No, it's just 1990's marketing that, for some reason, has just reached Bungie HQ. They think it's a way to build the brand, but the method is so outdated it just shows a lack of understanding of modern branding strategies. Referrals should be organic, not incentivised.

1 ReplyAre kids really asking for Destiny for Christmas more than a year after release? Sounds desperate to me.
-
Almost every game I can think of has done or continues to do a refer a friend program. Usually comes with some random vanity stuff
-
I'm going to be referring allot of friends and family this holiday season.... To battle front
-
No you are free marketing.
