Scene 10.5
Hey awesome people! Another scene is out, and as you may have guessed, it's a status update.
On Suzanne!
Remember that poll thingamodoodle I did a couple scenes ago? Y'know, the whose-your-favorite-character deal? Well, based on the results of that poll, I decided to give a little 'insight' to Suzanne's situation, which is by no means pretty.
Well, I hope you all enjoy...
Suzanne cursed as the fire stuttered, but failed to light. If she had had her armor, she wouldn't be freezing cold. But after... but after.... she couldn't quite remember, but her armor had disappeared in a flash of black and white. She wrapped her cloak around her body and stared at the stars; it was relatively peaceful tonight.
She stood up to grab more kindling and she clenched her teeth; her leg was still damaged after that fight with the fallen. Stupid shock rifles.
Now she had only a hoodie, some combat boots, a ratty pair of jeans, a black turtleneck, and of course, her Dead Orbit cloak. And her knives; she couldn't forget her knives.
She had just stepped out from the enclave she was camped under when she heard the mild chattering of fallen. She quickly blinked behind a rock; at least she still had her Light.
A group of Dregs shuffled past, followed by three vandals, a shank, and a captain. She cursed again; with her armor, she totally could have annihilated the patrol.
They found where she had been sitting just moments before, and a dreg leaned over to kick aside her futile attempts at a fire. She gave him the finger.
The patrol started chattering, and they all seemed to split up, looking for the person who had just been camped there. A dreg and a vandal crept toward where she hid, shock blades in their alien hands. Suzanne sighed; she was going to have to run again.
But then she saw something that totally changed her mind; the dreg had a sack clipped to its belt, and poking from the top of it was a loaf of bread. Bread.
She licked her lips, drawing her knives with a soft hiss. The other groups were farther away now, enough that she could kill the dreg and vandal without them noticing. All they had to do was get a little closer.
She ducked behind the rock, breathing slowly. The muffled footsteps crept around the side of the rock, getting closer.... closer....
NOW! She vaulted over the rock, and in one fluid motion beheaded both the vandal and the dreg, ignoring the pain screaming from her leg. Ether sprayed the ground, and she quickly dragged their bodies behind the rock. She wrenched the sack from the dreg's belt, removed the bread, and ate it viciously. Her stomach growled in response; it had been a good week since her last meal. Suddenly, shrapnel blew over her shoulder, and she cursed; she had taken too long to eat.
She blinked to the captain's side, grabbed its alien arm and ripped it off. It screamed and the scorch cannon fell to the earth. She followed it up with a knife to its throat and yanked upward, sending a part of its skull to the ground. A dreg fired at her but she blinked backwards and grabbed the scorch cannon, and the dreg was blown apart by shrapnel. She heard the firing noise of a shock rifle and turned, but it was too late.
She yelped as her injured leg was shot again, and she nearly blacked out from pain. It was all she could do to not collapse on the spot. "@#$K YOU @SSHOLE!" she screamed, clutching her re-injured leg.
Let me out... I can win this for us... She grimaced, cursing everything she could think of. "Fine." she muttered, and the last thing she would see for an hour would be black and white.
The vandal watched with horrified eyes as their target went to black and white, eyes glowing with black energy. Greg was ripped apart, as was Freg. Shank No. 347 was torn from the sky by the previously vulnerable awoken. And he couldn't do anything, as he was paralyzed with fear, even as his heart was ripped from his chest. Randal fell, ether spewing out onto the cosmodrome, laughter ringing in his fallen ears.
Suzanne awoke panting an hour later, with a feeling like she had just been pulled from inside a glacier. She cursed again, sitting up and moaning. Whenever she let that side of herself take over, it ended with a mild headache and hunger. And sometimes she ended up in random places; one time she had woken up to find that she was on Phobos. Her stomach grumbled at the thought of eating; that loaf of bread had seemed like forever ago. She needed meat, and lots of it. She stood up, wincing at the pain in her leg and looked around, nearly tripping over the dead vandal in the process.
Her stomach growled, and she covered her mouth with shock even as desperate eyes bored into the vandal's dead body. Aliens did have meat on them.... Right? She shook her head, trying to ignore the now appetizing look of the vandal. Her stomach growled again. She licked her lips.
Just one bite... it can't hurt. You could get a fire started...
"No! No no no no!" She shouted, grabbing her hair in fistfuls and turning away from the dead vandal. But starving eyes went back to it, and saliva started to drip from the corner of her mouth.
"No..." she whispered again, even as she got a fire started and hauled the vandal's body over to it.
She spit madly into the bushes in disgust, trying to rid the tangy taste from her mouth. The dying embers of the fire cast ghostly shadows on bones picked clean. She stared at her hands in disgust.
"What have I become?" She yelled out loud and it echoed, a solitary noise in the quiet ruins of the cosmodrome. Her voice seemed to chuckle.
You're mine. You always have been, and always will be.
Yuck.....anyways, I hoped you guys liked it, and the next time I say hello it will be on the DREADNAUGHT!
