Yep most definitely. There were items/weapons worth getting. You were guaranteed rewards when completing end-game content(maybe the boots didnt drop but at least you received something...ie another Chatterwhite!) TTK was a GIGANTIC step backwards in terms of character progression. Bungie has purposely done everything they possibly could think of to slow down character ascension. These issues have all been well documented and you simply need to scroll the forum should there be any grey area. Clans are disbanding, players are taking extended breaks from Destiny until some major changes occur, & new games have players ready to try something different. Destiny is dead unless Bungie decides to make the necessary changes to resurrect it.
