Ok before you lot start with "omg this is the wrong forum go post elsewhere", here's your Destiny related topic:
Who else feels like Destiny can't compete with these new games? Maybe Year 1 Destiny could, but I feel as if it's going downhill. Maybe you think different, Id like to know why if you do. But on to what I wanted to talk about as well.
Many people compare Fallout with Skyrim, and if it's like Elder Scrolls then sign me up. But what makes these two games different? I'm gonna start first and say "You can't walk through walls in Fallout so long as you have a wooden plate with you." Just an assumption; a pretty safe one at that.
Edit:
Ultimately, I'd like to know; A) the difference between Fallout and Skyrim; B) how would the introduction of new (and better) games affect Destiny, will it slowly decay from our consoles or will it find a new way to thrive with this competition (I do enjoy Destiny but it's far from being a properly functional game with single digit problems); and C) is Fallout worth the $100? Any input, so long as it's free of unnecessary insults, is gladly welcome and appreciated. The more input, the better my judgment, and hopefully this helps others in my situation as well.
4 RepliesYou can expect the same high class mechanics and story from any Bethesda game. As for the differences, I'll try and make it clear. Skyrim (Or any Elder Scrolls) Set in a Medieval time period with plenty of fantasy mixed in. Dragons, Vampires, Werewolfs, Magic. All that jazz. The engine they used for Skyrim is being used for Fallout 4 so you can expect the same type of mechanics (player movement, weapon usage, etc). Fallout Set in a post apocalyptic world with radiation, mutated monsters/people, bandits, small struggling settlements. Fallout is more tuned to be a survival type scenario, your health doesn't auto recharge, you can get radiation poisoning, weapon ammo is scarce and your weapons will deteriorate (kinda like Minecraft). It's much more focused on that feeling of surviving in a wasteland, getting that item that saves your live, all while going through the great story Bethesda cooks up for any of their games. Oh, and no magic so...yeah :) All in all, you can expect a great main quest line and hours upon hours of side quests to keep you occupied. A great character creation system (sorry, no Kahjiits just Humans :)) The loot system is the same, better gear drops in chests and on enemies at higher levels. The perk system is actually quite a bit more complex than Elder Scrolls games, you have to really focus on what you want your character to be played as, you cant just fly through all the skill trees and unlock everything (looking at you Skyrim:)). Well I did my best friend, hopefully I answered some of your questions. I gotta go to bed :)
Fallout 4 is definitely worth $60, I don't usually buy the limited/special editions or whatever they call them. I just buy the base game, so that extra $40 is up to you, whether you want those extra real life items or not :/
Also fallout is getting mods

Fallout: post apocalypse, on earth, in previously heavily populated areas. Lots of game changing "good or evil" decisions. Elder Scrolls: medieval fantasy, in tamriel, some basis on historical cultures, less emphasis on good and evil but still many game changing decisions.
-
Atmosphere, story, the fact that fallout 4 will have a large crafting system, and usually has more choices for story scenarios.

Both set in stupid fantasy worlds but fallout looks cool
-
They're actually very alike. The difference is atmosphere and story. Which is pretty obvious.
-
2 RepliesThe comparison isn't Skyrim vs Fallout, it's the fact that they're made by the same developer now and thus have the same mechanics in place. Open world, lots of interactable objects, dialogue, etc etc. Basically, there's great attention to detail in Bethesda games, and that's why they're so great compared to your average Assassin's Creed/Far Cry/whatever.
-
10 Replies...and yet here you are, posting in a game forum that "cant compete". Why not head over the the Skyrim forums then? Or the Fallout forums?
-
The ONLY difference.
Firearms or Swords n' Shit
-
This is the wrong forum, go post elsewhere. And yes, I'm being serious.
-
2 RepliesBoth good but the only real difference is the story and the skin and the combat mechanism. I prefere skyrim because I like bashing things with big swords. I will be losing myself in the next fallout though.
-
I don't know they're very different games, I mean it's like comparing an old school rpg to an mmo. Like there's whole layers of details that Destiny doesn't have because it's more mmo-ish I think a more fair comparison would be elder scrolls online.

1 ReplyHaha i have 20 wooden plates in skyrim

4 RepliesIt's called YouTube.

3 RepliesDestiny is incomparable to those two GREAT, GODLY, PERFECTLY DEVELOPED games. Year 1 Destiny being compared to either of them is like comparing a stale turd to a grapevine with grapes that cure cancer.

Skyrim (Elder Scrolls) has more variety and generally better quests. They're both amazing games but I'd give the edge to Elder Scrolls.
-
Fallout is more post apocalyptic 50s style, both equally good RPGs

2 RepliesSkyrim has dragons and junk. Fallout is lame. Skyrim>everything
