What's wrong with Halo 5 Multiplayer?
I've bought Halo 5 and am going to start playing it soon IF you think it's worth my time.
I want to know, from competitive players of Legacy Halo games (1,2,3) if this game offers the same or more competitive potential. If it's less, I'm not playing it.
Edit: idc if I already own the game. I don't want to play it yet.

It is super competitive, but if you were really good at 1-3 there are several new mechanics to learn and utilize so it still has spunk. Arena is 10/10. WARZONE is kind of a hit or miss, I like it because it is just a mode where I can sit down and play without worrying about leader boards or rank, casual (if you will). Campaign (even though you didn't ask) is super fun when playing it with other people but I needed to play through it a few times to really get an idea of the story and once I did I actually really like the story. Legendary ending got me thinking about cool Halo 6 story ideas! Overall 9/10.

Edited by Logfish111: 11/4/2015 9:26:24 AMH5's Arena potential comes from the fact that the pistol is a very skill-based, difficult to use weapon. Unfortunately, it's ruined by the fact that the AR is too OP, not to mention that every precision weapon is better than the pistol, so actually keeping your pistol off spawn is terrible strategy, when it shouldn't be, because it's the weapon you start with. All the other weapons have huge auto aim and aren't skill-based whatsoever. On top of that, the spawns are just the worst in Halo history, you will often be getting shot immediately off spawn, making both SWAT and FFA unbearable. You can't actually rank down divisions, so if you get put into one that is too high after your first 10 games you will be stuck in it forever. There are no social playlists. Sometimes you just want a more relaxing gameplay experience with your friends or to learn the maps, rather than sweating it out in Arena constantly. There is no BTB, Warzone is no substitute because you will be getting wrecked by people who win better weapons and vehicles than you from REQ packs. There is no forge. Warzone and the REQ system are terrible. So yeh it's pretty bad overall. The only good part of the game is Breakout, probably because there is no AR in that playlist and the pistol is actually useful.

WAAAAY better than the crucible thats for sure.. If you're new to the arena, i suggest you hit FFA before going into team slayer... You're gonna get your ass kicked in the first few games, but with time you'll figure out the mechanics, and the hotspots... Best competitive MP I've played in a long time

5 RepliesIn my experience, Halo 5 Arena is the most competitive experience I've enjoyed in a long time. However, I would advise that you avoid SWAT until the spawns are improved.

The whole ranked system is on win/lose. They need to let people join a game that has started. Or implement worst punishment for leaving. Like automatic down one tier if u quit.

Haven't played much (I've only put in about 6 hours or so), kind of burnt out on gaming lately. But from what I did play, the only real complaints I have are spawns and the fact that it's easy af to run away if you challenge a gun fight you shouldn't have. The new shoulder bash thingy and the thrust are on separate cool downs, so you can do the shoulder bash thing followed immediately by your thrust and be 40 feet away and around a corner in a second. The fact that taking damage sprint locks you and sprinting stops your shield regen helps though.

Everyone has their own thing in games. But one thing most people ignore and ill say that again. Ignore, is its a different gameplay and if you been playing on one game for a long time most other games gameplay will feel awkward. So a lot of people will say it sucks compared to this or that. Um, yeah in their opinion because you haven't played Halo or theyvare stuck on one game. Then their are the ones that are stuck in Halo series and are trying to look for that past impression. Guess what people? Its the past for a reason.

3 RepliesIt is the most competitive halo game since halo 2 imo. Overall it plays a lot like halo 2 or 3. Similar kill times, similar gunplay, similar movement, jump height, strafe speed, etc. The only thing different would be the weapon balance (which is more balanced overall) and the inclusion of the new abilities. Overall the abilities do not have a large affect on gameplay, so much as just add another layer to mobility and combat. That, and the aim assist is incredibly low, probably the lowest since CE. There is a large skill gap in arena, and it shows.

It's definitely competitive but they changed their competitive mode to breakout. Which is insanely fun.

I was a die hard competitive halo 3 player, tried out for multiple mlg teams, just to be cut after making the top 6 in the tryouts twice and I can tell you I find this equally, maybe even more, competitive than halo 3. I love it and if you loved halo 2 multiplayer you're going to love halo 5, the gun play is very similar to halo 2.

You'll need to know that.... a) Your radar is about as useful as a broken toaster. b) The magnum is all powerful, if you're not using it you're not doing it right. c) Power weapons spawn every time your heart beats. d) If you're playing warzone and you don't see roughly 10-12 tanks, you've been blessed. All in all it's a good game, but some things need looking at.

two things. A) you already have the game, you can play it and find out for yourself. and B) it has a competitive Arena set of playlists like breakout slayer etc, and a casual playlist, Warzone which is also still fun but not competitive in any way.
