Would you like an "elite" customisable ps4 controller?

The elite controller is selling out in uk stores as people clammer for competitive advantage through increased flexibility and extra buttons, paddles, hair triggers etc. And no doubt many others buying it so they weren't at a disadvantage. Would you like to see Sony go the same route? Personally I don't want to spend $150 just to maintain parity with those willing to spend the money. It's a disgusting extra expense to feel forced into just to stay on a level playing field; but perhaps some feel that the extra customisation is worth it; perhaps some see the disparity between the haves and have nots as a good thing... What do you think? Would you like Sony to release their own "advantage" controller? Would you buy it? If not, would you feel that being at a disadvantage (even after buying the same expensive console) was ok? Keep in mind I'm not criticising the ms elite controller, which seems great, just questioning the practice of launching it after millions had already invested in a set up they thought would place them on the same level as all other owners.

  • I see no reason why not. More options are always welcome. It's not as if the market is completely untapped. More advanced controllers have been around for many years. The elite just so happens to be the first one not developed by a 3rd party - which goes a long way to say the least. Those players that want The elite already have an advanced controller for the most part, or were considering buying one. The elite just so happens to be a cheaper, better advertised controller with a moderately high level of customization. Parity is always a concern, though it also varies a lot depending on the game, controls and player. It's always been difficult to maintain parity, and from my experience the results of less parity are usually very little, at least on console. The only thing that could really hurt parity enough to really matter would be mouse and keyboard support. A slightly more advanced controller rarely makes a major difference in gameplay, usually it just adds a Level of extra comfort in playing, which could be considered an advantage I guess but a very minor one at that. So far, if somebody has been using the elite, I haven't been able to tell the difference. My performance with the regular controller has remained the same in halo at least. Though that may be in part to how hair triggers do not help in halo gameplay. It probably does vary a lot depending on what game you are playing.
