I am curious to know why people are still gaming on outdated consoles. With the addition of backwards compatibility to the Xbox One and the ridiculously low price of the systems now, why are people not converting? Also it is getting closer to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, you can pretty much steal a next-gen system..just saying.
I bought a day one edition Xbox One for $499, plus additional controllers. headset, games, charging adapters, for a grand total I don't even want to list. You can now buy an Xbox with 2X the hard drive capacity and in a limited edition skin for the same price, or cheaper. I know everyone does not have the same financial situation as me, but it seems odd to me that people are still on last gen consoles demanding all the new games and content added to the next gen. Its been just about 2 years now.
Also, on a completely unrelated note..Sony is introducing in-ear noise cancelling headphones for PS4..they look pretty badass.
Edit: if you have kids and a mortgage and a family to feed, your argument is 100% valid in my opinion, I never once said those things should come second to buying a new console. That's absurd. Family over everything.
This post is not meant to be solely related to financial constraints. Like I said before I understand not everyone has the same financial situation and I am fully aware not everyone can just drop everything and spend $500, but as frequent gamers the conversion to next Gen consoles has been known forever, and there is no way you can tell me you aren't able to afford a new system if you have played either for more than 1-2 years. Clearly you're able to keep funding that system, how is a new one any different besides the initial cost.
There was once a conversion from xbox and ps2 to Xbox360 and ps3, same situation as right now, technology changes every day why wouldn't you want to have the best possible experience with the most current technology. if you're spending enough time gaming to be on forums arguing your case, you're considered more than a casual gamer in my opinion and have spent more money than you care to think about in the process. Why not constantly update if you're going to be a constant gamer?

I own an Xbox one and a ps4 (destiny is on Xbox 360 for me). My friends are just stubborn and don't want to upgrade to next gen.
-
I don't live in U.S and dollar is damn expensive on my country.
-
My friends haven't upgraded to Xbox 1 yet
-

Trying to get my instrument rating, I enjoy flying much more than video games. But I'll probably get one eventually.

1 ReplyAbout 400 dollars is not cheap for a 14 year old in a semi-poor family like me. I play my copy of destiny that I got for free, used, from a friend on a ps3, VERY used that I got from my aunt. I only have one parent currently alive and they do not work due to disability. I may get a ps4 in the future but my being able to afford playstation plus is questionable. Some people are less fortunate than you and can't even afford the price that you say is "ridiculously low"

My friends play on 360 so no point in buying a One and playing by myself

1 ReplyEdited by ThaPerna: 11/3/2015 9:56:32 PMRidiculously low prices consoles? It cost me around $399 for the console itself. Then I'd have to buy Destiny which is $40 used, then I'd have to buy $40 TTK. Thats just Destiny, what about Battlefront, Fallout 4, BO3? I want those games too. I'm sorry, it's just too expensive.

6 RepliesYou can buy me a ps4 if you want I will accept

Friends who don't own the One/ps4 Not paying another 40 to play by myself

2 RepliesDidn't play my 360 for bout 3 years, it just sat in the cupboard collecting dust. I absolutely loved halo 3's multiplayer so was pretty pumped when I heard about destiny. I've played it on the xbone but just slightly enhanced graphics doesn't seem worth the investment when u can pretty much get the same experience on the older console. Maybe destiny should have been next gen only but then it was in development when the older consoles were still current, so it probably would still only have been slightly better than it is now.

Sorry we're not rich like all of you ;)

Edited by Nike: 11/3/2015 8:30:28 PMI play on the 360 sometimes just for patrolling. Nothing else. Because people won't TAKE my kills while I'm on the 360. ~TheGreatNike

1 ReplyDay to day expenses cut away almost any disposable income for a number of people, your speech fails to inspire me to get a second job to support my gaming habit.

1 ReplyOP is a hypocrite. Half these posts make him seem genuinely curious while the other half are just "get gud scrub" posts. Just an observation, no hate.

I have a 360 still because there is absolutely no reason to get a next-gen yet. Now that Fallout 4 is coming out (next Tues), there is exactly one reason. I have a very good PC, however, so I may buy it on PC and wait until the price comes down a bit further. The effed up part is, you could build an Xbox One for like $200. The hardware is already outdated.

Yep, just bought a second Xbox 1 so I can play with my brother

1 ReplyPeople are poor, and don't comment saying I have other important things to spend money on.

3 RepliesI must have missed th part in shops where these consoles (ps4 and Xbox one) are at a ridiculously low price. Checked yesterday and they were still at $450 (canadian). If I don't get one for Xmas then I'll get o e immediately after. But still, prices are the same as what they were last year. Nothing has changed. And the amount of ppl still using old consoles, means there's no hurry to switch to a newer one. Other than the fact that new games have slowed coming on to old platforms.
