"I think matchmaking can make other players disposable to you," comments Smith. "The reason that people quit out of strikes is because there’s no consequence to their departure, just a punishment for that disposable person on the other end of the line.
I think that when people on lfg sites are getting kicked because they don't have ghallarhorn/touch of malice/or certain emblems, etc, they are being treated just as disposable.

  • Those people can start their own group with whatever qualifications they choose.

I don't understand how your comment addresses the point I made. I am not advocating that people should not be allowed to ask for qualifications for admittance to their fireteams. I'm just pointing out that doing so treats others as disposable. If I am removed from a fireteam because I lack a certain emblem and then I turn around and make my own fireteam with my own qualifications then I am also treating others as disposable, which would make me a hypocrite. In my opinion, requiring that people have certain weapons/emblems in order to join a fireteam treats people as a means to an end, no better than tools. Tools are disposable. Also, in regards to Luke Smith's comment, the people in the strikes have the option to make their own fireteams if they don't like how disposable the match making makes them feel. So people in strikes have the option to either form a fireteam or use matchmaking, a luxury that the people who want to raid or do nightfall are not afforded.

  • You have to do the raid to get touch of malice. This guy can't join groups to raid with because they require touch of malice. Put it together. This isn't hard.

Has he lost the ability to use his phone? I did plenty of raids on normal through lfg. Before i had ToM and met plenty of people still gathering fragments for theirs without this being an issue

  • What does his phone have to do with anything? He's saying he can't find a group because you need the touch of malice. You need to raid to get the touch of malice.

  • You need to read what I wrote as you seem to be missing my point. It wasn't an issue for me, nor was it for others when raiding on teams I was in, he's probably just ran into a few bad groups that think it's necessary for a normal raid, I have yet to meet anyone that thinks it essential for a normal raid. Hard yes normal. No

  • There is a word I want you to look up, it's "anecdotal". Just because YOU didn't have a hard time finding a group doesn't mean that nobody is having a hard time finding a group. Just because the people you know don't require ToM,emblems, etc doesn't mean that no one requires it. Destiny has 25million registered users, even if we assume half of them don't play anymore that still leaves millions of users. Exactly what percentage of those millions do you and your friends represent? You could play this game everyday for 100 years and still not meet half the people who play it. So your "me and the people I know" argument is weak. It's anecdotal. Now let's talk facts, about a month or so ago, Deej said in a weekly update that only 40% of players attempted Kings Fall and of that 40 only 20% completed it. That fact would suggest that either people are having a hard time running the raid or have no interest in doing it. I think it's safe too assume that the people who are on these forums claiming difficulty in finding groups are in fact having a difficult time finding groups. There are just too many people not raiding to chalk all that up to other factors.

I'm not making assumptions, if you read closer. I stated...I hadn't come across this in before myself in the raids on normal and that he'd probably ran into a few bad groups. No point splitting hairs that don't need to be split. And I was referring to raiding from lfg not friends

  • I was making the point that just because you personally haven't come across it doesn't mean it ain't happening. Also, in my original comment, I never said ToM was essential to get into a raid in lfg. Nor, did I say that it was impossible for me to find a raid group. I only said that people are refused admittance to fire teams because of a lack of certain gear. It doesn't happen all the time but it does occur. Now my comment was in reference to Luke Smiths comment, in which he said match making causes people to feel disposable. My point then being, people feel disposable regardless of match making. Not all match made teams have players quitting early but when it happens the players left behind feel disposable. Likewise, not all lfg groups kick people for not having ToM but when it does happen the people who are kicked feel just as disposable.
