Full game content. Is it possible starting with TTK as a year 2?

I've had a PS4 Destiny edition since last Christmas. It was really for my kids and I've only played a few games of Mortal Kombat with them and have never touched Destiny on that system. I purchased an XBOX 360 around the time TTK DLC dropped so I picked up a copy of the legendary edition. I've installed it but have only played a few minutes to get an idea of the gameplay and mechanics. I'm a PC guy and have never played current consoles like PS3, PS4, XBOX 360, or XBOX ONE despite having them for my kids. (I have played NES, GameCube, wii, wii u. I am not unfamiliar with consoles, but my focus has always been on PC) So my FPS experience is solely from a PC perspective utilizing a keyboard and mouse. I know it will take time for me to become accustomed to a controller but I am going to keep an open mind and dedicate myself to becoming adequate using a controller for an FPS game. I've frequently been on the forums and I think I have a good grasp of what Destiny offers. Both good and bad. With that said, I am having difficulty deciding on how to begin the game. With TTK, it is my understanding that certain elements of the year 1 game have been removed and some earlier strikes/raids are almost unplayable as it is hard to get LFG for team play to complete them. While others have been removed completely, which is a bummer. True? I could use the Spark and level up to 25 and skip the earlier content, but I want to experience as much of the game as possible with a new character and level up by going through the story from the beginning. Will I get an approximate experience by doing this anyway? Will I be able to progress without certain raid weapon and armor drops that are no longer available? Or should I use the spark to level my character up and start from there? (I don't want to do this if I can get more experience starting fresh). I may have gotten some of the details wrong. I need you guys and gals to tell me what they are. I'm hoping I can get enough from your comments so that I can make an informed decision. I'm ready to join the Destiny universe, I just need some direction. Thank you in advance for any help! :) TL;DR New to Destiny. Have TTK Legendary. Want to experience as much content available from the beginning. Progressing through year 1 and Subsequent DLC's up through TTK. Is it possible? Is it worth it? Or should I just use the Spark to level up and just play TTK?

I played all through year one on a Xbox 360. When TTK came out, I upgraded to the PS4 and got the legendary edition (included all the previous DLCs). I started from scratch. I actually really enjoyed starting from scratch and playing through the entire game and DLC's in order. Just now digging into TTK story. I would for sure go the route of starting over with a new character. Tons of new quests and things to do through the process. Enjoy!

    • If it were me, I would enjoy all of the game's content with one character (year one raids) then after you complete your first character at lv 40, I would use the spark on another character. It may be hard to find people to do year-one raids, so if you can't find friends to do that, then I would just get started with taken king.

      • I would run through the story and try to get the earlier raids done, just to get the hang of how to play properly and learn the mechanics of Destiny. After you get the lvl 40 and a light level that suits you, feel free to use the item and go straight to lvl 25 on another character to get a feel with all the classes and subclasses and then find your favourite. Have fun :)
