Did Bungie and Activision cut content and change the story?

We've known things were different since the first month Destiny went live, no news articles thus released have told us anything we didn't already know aside from Marty being disruptive at work because Activision wanted to micromanage after saying they wouldn't. Would Destiny have been better with the original story? That's impossible to know now. The Destiny we have is the one we got and no speculation will ever change that; all you can do now is either accept it or don't play.
