Halo 3 Rank reset.
Now as some of you may remember back in Halo 2 days bungie pulled off a couple of rank resets and put everyone back to zero, now this was to bring people together in closer ranks and help people get games faster (i think).
What i think would be a good idea if Bungie did the same again.
It would speed up MM in the lower population playlists, give people stuck on a rank the chance to start again, it would remove the point of having a second account, destroy the market for selling GT's for 50's and stop people boosting for 50.
I think it would make Halo 3 a better online game to play.
Discuss?

I don't like this idea. I worked hard for my rank and don't feel like getting it reset.

Isn't Halo 3: ODST a Game Add-On that is worth the same price as game? Focusing on the Game Add-On, doesn't that mean that the ranks for Halo 3: ODST would still be the same as Halo 3 considering it is a Add-On? Or are the planning to do a reset when ODST lauches?

i kind of agree with your idea OP, but id put it like this, either have a skill reset but keep exp and highest skill. removing all mu and sigma along with the ranks. or have a prestige button like CoD, thats an idea i like about CoD. infact maybe both? to be honest though now im more fond of the sheer amount of matches played and experience gained on my account, than my "trueskill" rating. i mean 40 isn't bad and yeah im proud of it but having the patience and passion for the game to play it daily has a higher value in my eyes than "boosting" accounts up day after day.

I've always thought Rank Resetting was silly. Sure.. you'll find games faster, but those games will be horribly unbalanced. A few legit 50's could be matched up against people who've only played 1-2 games. That's just stupid, and it would take weeks for everyone to get back up to the rank they should have. Yes, I release this sort of thing already happens with second accounters, but there's only a small fraction compared to [i]everyone[/i] with a 50 being level 1. I mean, I guess it would make more sense in a year or two when there's only 1k people online (as the case with halo 2), but at the moment there's always around 100,000+ people on at any given time. I could care less if they reset their ranks. I could easily get back my 48 and it would be MUCH easier to get a 50 eventually. It would also humiliate the bought 50 market, which would make me laugh.

If there was a rank reset, I would probably not even play much. Maybe every few days. I like my account and experience. Seeing how i managed to get a 45, with a really lagy connection in SWAT, I'm PROUD!

[/quote] With the influx of new accounts, because they got banned for one reason or another, it might be a good idea and yes it would stop the black market of selling 50's. Another solution would be to ban violators per their xbox 360 serial number, hard drive serial number and game disk serial number and make it an auto-perma ban. That way there would be no new accounts. boosters etc, and one would have to go out and buy a new xbox, game, and gamer tag, and download of maps, resulting in a $400 plus expense for cheating. I bet people would think twice before they cheat huh?

It would be better. Then no one can really complain about being rank locked. It would, for a while stop boosting. Edit: Like someone said above me, if you are a "legit" 50 now, then you should be able to get a 50 if bungie reset the ranks. [Edited on 08.03.2009 9:07 AM PDT]

The better players quit and people gave up on the game i think that your just bad and you can't get a 50. Stop crying about it people are better then you who cares?
