I got kicked from a group earlier today because i was actually trying to kill the Ogres and Knights when fighting Oryx.
Seriously if everyone actually tries to kill the respective knights after killing their Ogres the rest of the fight would go a lot smoother. Even more so as people's light levels go up in the coming weeks.
Edit: Just make things clear No they did not tell me this was the strategy they were doing. When we wiped and they asked me why i died I told them I was killing the Knights I was kicked.

Every single time I've done hard mode my team have just killed the ogres and knights. Seems to work okay

The no knight strategy didn't work for our team at all. I found that with random players, people tended to -blam!- up on killing the ogres at the same time after staggering Oryx so someone always died to a swarm of adds. Killed Oryx earlier today for the first time on Hard mode with 2 of my regular raid team and 3 randoms. Some people quit out here and there out of rage or having other priorities but we had one guy that stuck it out for the entire raid and two others that came in and picked up the strategy we used fast. We had the button holders kill Ogres and the middle man (defender titan) throw up a blessing of light shield and helped burn down Ogres with our floater.

I've done the hard raid using atleast 5 different strategies.. I prefer the "no knight" one. Saves me a ton on ammo and you literally only kill the ogres and shade to move on:)
-
Well faults on both ends. They should have clarified what strategy they wanted to do once a new person joined and you should have asked.
-
The strategy works, it also keeps aggro off the players on platform, which are quite literally, exposed from every angle. There's too much enemy firepower to take down before it kills you before the runner gets the relic. This strategy minimizes damage on those who can take it the most. If it was a cheeze, bungie would make changes to the raid. Just like all of you that claim that sitting in front of the glass for crota is "strategy", or wiping in VoG to snipe Templar is a "strategy"

Normal strat is so much easier, in my opinion.
-
Soon as you see your knight across from you, you can literally kill him before he moved from the pool he rises from. Not much reason not to kill them.
-
If you joined a group and purposely went against their strategy you deserved it. Bye
-
I hate it because it makes it way too easy.
-
The ogres are not really controllable. Some could be way further than the others and so some bombs could go off sooner killing your other teammates.
-
if your group agrees to use that strategy, and you know the rest of the group is doing it, and you still go against it, you deserve to be kicked. if you weren't at all aware they were doing that strategy, they should've told you instead of kicking you. if you had a problem and refused to do it after they told you they were doing it, you should've either left or been kicked.

I've done Oryx a couple times on Hard and IMO, I think leaving the ogres at 25% and not killing knights is way easier then normal.
-
No knight strategy I would say is currently the most consistent by far.
-
The people who use this strategy are uncoordinated and scared.
