Halo's Warzone is pay to win. The end.
I'm a self proclaimed Halo fanboy. I love Halo. I'm enjoying Halo 5 so far. I don't hate 343. But, Warzone is undeniably pay to win.
It is so blatantly obvious after having watched a few people on Twitch dump $40-$50 in REQ packs, and then having spent a few hours playing it myself without paying extra.
Just one example is the scorpion tank. I played MP for 5 solid hours last night (from midnight - 5AM). During that time I earned enough REQ points to open 4 gold packages. I received exactly 1 scorpion tank. 5 hours, and 1 tank. That would be perfectly ok with me, however, people who drop a bunch of money in REQ packs end up with 15-20 or more tanks. It doesn't matter that they have to wait to level up during each match to use them, leveling up is easy. What matters is that they can drop a scorpion every single match, and I can only drop one once an afternoon.
If that's not pay to win, I don't know what is.

5 RepliesI got the tank certification in the very beginning. I've got so many tanks i just sell them. Also tanks are not OP at all. Ultra ghosts tho
-
I agree

10 RepliesWhoa whoa wait, halo 5 is essentially selling scratch off tickets in a AAA game and people are okay with it? Like the same people who think Bungie is now the devil.
-
1 ReplyPeople are so blind. If destiny pulled something like this the same people would go ape shit
-
Who cares it's unranked arena is for actual halo players warzone in for casual scrubs
-
It's all based on random stuff you get. From one gold req pack I got a banshee the next one I got 7 ghosts.
-
I got 5 or 6 scorpions in one pack that I bought with req points
-
Won every single Warzone game yesterday (About 10 - 13), haven't paid a single penny. Paying for a Scorpion doesn't mean you can't be blown up three seconds after spawning it.
-
1 ReplyMy ass, I haven't payed a cent and I do just fine.

Edited by the last mage: 10/30/2015 4:37:03 PMYou get random reqs from packs wether you buy them or not and you can only use certain reqs at certain req ranks as the game goes on req ranks increase how is this p2w if you buy a Ferrari challenge me to a race where we can only use bicycles your Ferrari won't help you Edit 117th post

Kids don't know what pay to win actually means

Not really. Can spending money give you an advantage? Maybe, but I don't think that possible advantage warrants the "OMG PAY 2 WIN MICROTRANSACTIONS!!!!11!1!one!" hysteria some people have. You can earn points easily just by playing the game; Warzone in particular nets you a ton of points. I haven't once had the inclination to spend real money on the packs. Part of it is because while Warzone is a fun distraction, the real meat and bones of Halo has always been its Arena multiplayer. So the perceived advantages of paying for Req packs don't matter to me all that much anyway. If this Req pack system means free maps and content updates for Halo 5's lifespan, then that's more than a fair trade-off. We used to have to pay $10-15 per map pack, and that had a far more negative effect on the player population.

12 Replies343i has just completely ruined this franchise IMO, whether you believe it's "pay to win" or not, you can now pay to get MP rewards instead of playing the game. They took away split screen MP and co-op, and they put in ADS. Two cornerstones of the Halo franchise were no ADS and split screen playability. This game doesn't belong in the Halo franchise, it just needs to stand on its own as I don't know what the -blam!-.

1 ReplyI have started to play warzone attack, or what ever it's name is. Earning req points takes way longer and i have seen people using a tank once. You don't have those situations where people have 2 banshees 2 tanks and a shitload of ghosts on the battlefield all at once
-
Tanks don't last very long. Packs are random. Everyone earns tons of REQ points to buy packs for free. Warzone is neither ranked or considered a competitive playlist, just sandlot. How is this pay to win again???
-
It's not pay 2 win, its pay 2 not suck because anyone who pays is a scrublord

Edited by The Arxfiend: 10/30/2015 3:37:10 PMNot really. Yeah, you can drop money, but it only gives you 1 use per card. But thanks to the Mantis, I always have Plasma Pistol with me for vehicles, so maybe it's just me.
-
It isn't really pay to win, but I see your point. Also warzone isn't meant to be taken as seriously like arena.
-
Pay to win nope
-
I haven' spent any money and I win all the time in warzone and you can earn point it like say destiny dance moves make you stronger your point is invalid

Edited by Atomic Tea: 10/30/2015 12:50:44 PMIt's not pay to win. That's you having a knee jerk reaction. There are plenty of easy ways to take out a tank. None of it carries over into the real competitive multiplayer. (Arena) It's funding the free maps we'll all be getting later, so please deal with it. Everything in REQ packs, even Pre-Order exclusives, are obtainable through gameplay. It's all a matter of patience and RNG. Not unlike Destiny. Except Halo 5 is more fun.

Just sit by their base and lob a nade in the tank lol
-
Lol at people that completely missed the point I made and think this whole post is about a scorpion tank.

They probably have the scorpion certification. I get a few tanks every day because I have the certification card. Without it you'll get them way less often. That's not pay to win. They just happened to get that specific certification. I don't have a banshee certification and don't get the banshee card ever. That's how it works.
