The Skull Mask was implemented very poorly.
Just saying. You either get stupidly lucky and get it from Eva's 'free' Package that Tess sells, or you go cough up money to have a CHANCE of getting it. All other masks can be obtained through the "Candy Bag" RNG, and then upgraded to Legendary through the RNG Paper Glue, but the Skull Mask? You're pretty much paying to spin a wheel for it and getting a complementary reward (The Legendary Mask) for your attempt.
It doesn't help that the flavor text implies it'll be exclusive to the 2015 event either.

EDIT: The item being cosmetic isn't the point. It's the fact that they're adding RNG elements to things you're paying real-life money for. If you don't want it, you don't have to try for it, but they put all of their effort into making it something a player really wants by making it the most appealing (Animations, sound effects) while making it exclusive to 2015 in specific. This is the equivalent of online gambling which shouldn't be supported by any player with common sense; especially in some T-rated game. Expect this kind of practice to become the norm with holiday events, and maybe even become a normal "Tess" thing because of how much money it's making them right now.
EDIT 2: For those wondering, I do have the Skull Mask. Got it from my second Treasure of the Lost bag while buying masks to get Paper Glue to keep them. Not everyone is going to get them like that, though. Some will pay nothing, some will pay $40+.

The people saying you're salty are hilarious. Valid points, though this is prevalent in many video games these days. Quite a shame, really, that games for the last few years have just became a con-artist market. From unfinished products to microtransactions, all the way to not even fixing core issues of the game. And play time! Games feel so much shorter than they used to be.

I blew $20 on Eververse. Who cares? I don't see why people are getting PO'd about cosmetic crap anyways. So what if you don't get a skull mask on RNG? Not like it increases our light level. And, if you got the mask...why are you salty over getting it? I'm at a loss here.

Either pay to get it or move on. It has no bearing on game play and was meant to be a fun little thing. Now people are going absolutely bananas because they can't get all of them. Either decide I want to get everything and I'm willing to pay for it or not. If not accept it and play the game it go check out tf2 or something. But crying and whining is pointless and dumb.

I know I'm the one who decided to do this but it still feels wrong when you buy 10 of those packages and the only three legendary masks you get are Petra, the Warden and the Cryptarch, several times. The RNG behind getting new masks when you pay real money for them should much better than it is.

7 RepliesSeriously? If you "have"to have the mask, buy it. Personally, I've really enjoyed this FREE event. I didn't buy any emotes/dances the first time around. Bungie actually made a free event which is fun. I don't mind a little dough to keep things like this up. If you don't want it, don't but it. Simple as that. If they ever sell a weapon or armor for silver, then by all means, open the floodgates to complaintown.

But still, all other masks are obtainable through RNG. Even glue, which allows you to keep your masks after the event is over are obtainable through RNG. The skull mask is just a cash grab. Just a ploy to make the gullible spend money on something they don't need. If you could just buy the skull mask, that'd be fine. That's a perfectly reasonable microtransactions item. But having to spend money on just a chance to get the item is the problem. Spending money on RNG? Come one now. All the desticles will defend it, and that's fine, but the OP is still completely right.
