Disclaimer:
Let's start this all off with the understanding that nobody is salty. All of the "U MAD CUZ NO TOM" replies are inevitable.
All of these "What excuse do you have for not having Touch of Malice" threads are tickling me. Because these people are saying things like "You can get it in 1 day if you weren't so lazy." "It only takes 20 minutes."
Well.. In reality it only takes 3 days. But we will get to that later. Let's look at numbers.
_____________________________________________________
There are 50 fragments.
Only 47 are currently obtainable.
The 3 tier three fragment cannot be obtained at once.
The 1 agonarch fragment cannot be obtained in one day.
The 1 Nightfall fragment cannot be obtained most weeks.
What if someone wants to start ToM today?
So right now someone starting fresh would be able to grab 33 Fragments off the ground.
Also, they can complete the following today:
1 from wormsinger.
1 from skyburners.
1 from scent chest.
1 from sword/shield chest.
4 from tier 2 court.
1 from tier 3 court.
1 fragment from the bounty.
That leaves them with 43/50.
"What are they waiting on?"
(1)Agonarch rune takes 3 days at least to charge.
(2)Need weekly reset for the next tier 3 court boss.
(1)Need nightfall to be a Dreadnought mission.
In conclusion, assuming the player has not completed Kings Fall, picked up a single Calcified Fragment, or accepted the Touch of Malice quest, the fastest possible time to obtain Touch of Malice is 3 days:
-Sunday: Begin ToM quest line. Complete raid. Obtain and begin charging Agonarch Rune (switch between your 3 characters to obtain 3 charges). Complete filler quests in the quest line.
-Monday: Collect the rest of the possible 43 fragments, including the Court of Oryx and chests. Then get 3 more charges on Agonarch Rune.
-Tuesday: Complete the newly-reset Tier 3 Court of Oryx. Get your last charge on Agonarch Rune and complete it for fragment. Complete filler quests in quest line. Turn in and obtain Touch of Malice.
So back to the question at hand.
"Why do you not have ToM?"
People who are able to play the game every day will have no problem. But keep in mind that some players have families, multiple jobs, school, and other time-consuming commitments.
Also, those players who were not able to begin TTK on week 1 may not have been 290+ in time for the raid. This would put them doing things like Strikes to get their light up. Because no raid = no ToM.
People who do not have ToM must understand that they will most likely be required to have the weapon in order to join a Hard Kings Fall Raid. Just like they will also be required to have 307+ Light.
This is nothing to be mad at. In the end, DESTINY is a video game that we all spend our time playing when we have nothing else to do in the real world. Do not let a video game upset you. Have fun and enjoy it.
Edit: The Nightfall is on the Dreadnought this week. There's another fragment for you guys who still need it!
Edit: The Agonarch Rune will gain 5 charges if you are with someone who is doing the Agonarch Rune event. So if your Agonarch Rune has 2 charges and a friend has a fully charged one, go help them!

1 ReplyBad raid teams and only 28 fragments (I ain't a casual. I just don't have time for this crap ):)
-
But TTK has been out for a lot longer than a week, the Tier 3 boss has reset several times, and the NF is on Dreadnaught
-
There's no excuse ttk been out long enough for everyone who wants or wanted tom to have it already
-
You could collect 39-40 without ever doing the raid, and the games been out for weeks.if you want that gun you will get it.
-
Thank you
-
2 RepliesAs a heads up you can fill a rune for the fragment by doing the mission with someone else who has a full one already. Mine was 3/7 then it filled up and I got to open the chest
-
I don't have it because I don't raid much at all. And if I don't raid, I don't need this gun, because it is outclasses by many much more available guns in regular PvE
-
4 RepliesGot ToM today. Was pissed when I found out I needed hadium flakes to upgrade it.
-
3 RepliesThere's a nightfall fragment?! I think you're strike tier is off buddy.
-
Favorite for a well-written piece. Nicely organized. Thanks for sharing your perspective
-
Nice writeup.
-
Well done my friend. I'll get round to it eventually. I haven't much time right now.
-
Nice post.

5 Replies99% of the people cannot even brag or be cocky about having the ToM. The hardest part which is finding all of the fragments was skipped by 99.99% of players as they used a guide to find them. In reality to find all the fragments it is a decent amount of work LOL I made a thread about this and got so much hate so much salt
-
2 RepliesI played casually for 2 weeks before doing the raid. I was able to complete the tom quest in 3 hours after doing the raid. I think people's point is... If you haven't completed a single nightfall, any runes, and at least 1 level 3 court of oryx since ttk then what have you been doing? If you haven't done any or all the above then why are you trying to get into the end game content?
-
I need the Agonarch Rune and a T3 that isn't available this week. OR, I need two in the raid. Which'll be easy for me. But my friend's been trying to do it for me. Come next Friday i'll get it done easily by running from Warpriest to Sisters lmao.
-
2 RepliesI've done everything except for finding all the -blam!-ing calcified fragments
-
4 RepliesBecause everyone one requires you to be above 300 light with a 310 ToM for normal oryx
-
5 RepliesWhy is ToM so awesome? I get it does more damage but you lose health when you lose it. Only thing I really see that being possibly useful for is for majors and ultras. Is it just a new, crappy version of Ghorn or something? The best boss killer right now?
-
If you help someone with Agonarch rune, you can charge a full rune in 5-10 minutes. It is possible
-
2 RepliesWell thats funny because my friend did it in a day.
-
I think that my head just exploded.. Someone took the time to write-up a response that logically outlines that the ToM can not be obtain in a mere day.
-
4 RepliesMy biggest thing for not getting the ToM is that I cannot get into a group for the raid. I've made quite a few posts asking to get into a group and to no avail I do not get a response. Just need the materials from the bosses and 3 of the 5 fragments. I have 42 Fragments, 50 Weapon parts, 25 Wormspore and 50 Hadium Flakes. I have everything but the raid part for the damn weapon yet cannot find a group for nothing. *sigh*

Edited by character___zer0: 10/29/2015 11:00:33 AMIt's true, it certainly takes a couple days to get it even when you switch the Agnorach Rune between characters. But now with 47 fragments found available as opposed to 46, you can skip the T3 CoO reset...at the same time even With 47 Fragments available it'll take an extra day or two. I had 15 fragments when I started my quest for it two days ago, and between real life and the time it takes execute in game events, I am now at 39/50 with my last 8 being: 1 from the raid (golgoroth, hopefully grab that after work and class tonight) 1 from Agnorach Rune (I'll be done that one tonight too). 3 T2 bosses (there are 4 available and I already did one) 1 T3 boss I was trying to farm down the CoO last night but it was almost 2 am by the time I got there and figured I should save my runes for when I'm more awake. Either way, it definitely has taken me at least a total of 5 hours dicking around the dreadnaught spread over a couple nights this week to finally only have these 6 left that I need for ToM. I guess if you sat down on a free day and did it you could but you still need to do the Ag Rune and that'll kinda throw some extra time in it (say 24-36 hours maybe?) Either way I've loved the quest to get it this far and am excited to be close. Anyone have any tips for the CoO bosses? That's really all that's standing in my way from the Malice. Either way happy hunting to everyone going after it :)

6 RepliesTo be fair, I think the people saying "you can get it on day 1" mean the first day the raid was released, as assume you've collected every possible fragment before the raid even got released, I guess? My excuse for not having it is I just can't be bothered to try and find an extra 3-5 fragments for a scout rifle I won't use. Tlaloc is better in the crucible, and In raids for example, a sniper is usually a better choice, plus I've already gotten a legendary to 308 so why waste time on a ugly scout rifle right? I really don't see the beauty in the ToM, once I actually bother to get the past few fragments I'll just infuse the thing into something more.. Enjoyable. Still, Everyone that asks me why I don't have it, I usually tell them "why don't you have Eyasluna?" Or "Why don't you have The First Curse?" The Red Spectre is a nice one too, the list really goes on and on... Point being.. They are all nice and shoot bullets, why not use something that makes you feel like you're not being shot by thorn?

Im sitting at 36 fragments, not completed the raid yet.... and both my Old hunger and hunger pangs quests have vanished.... screw Eris.
