Disclaimer:
Let's start this all off with the understanding that nobody is salty. All of the "U MAD CUZ NO TOM" replies are inevitable.
All of these "What excuse do you have for not having Touch of Malice" threads are tickling me. Because these people are saying things like "You can get it in 1 day if you weren't so lazy." "It only takes 20 minutes."
Well.. In reality it only takes 3 days. But we will get to that later. Let's look at numbers.
_____________________________________________________
There are 50 fragments.
Only 47 are currently obtainable.
The 3 tier three fragment cannot be obtained at once.
The 1 agonarch fragment cannot be obtained in one day.
The 1 Nightfall fragment cannot be obtained most weeks.
What if someone wants to start ToM today?
So right now someone starting fresh would be able to grab 33 Fragments off the ground.
Also, they can complete the following today:
1 from wormsinger.
1 from skyburners.
1 from scent chest.
1 from sword/shield chest.
4 from tier 2 court.
1 from tier 3 court.
1 fragment from the bounty.
That leaves them with 43/50.
"What are they waiting on?"
(1)Agonarch rune takes 3 days at least to charge.
(2)Need weekly reset for the next tier 3 court boss.
(1)Need nightfall to be a Dreadnought mission.
In conclusion, assuming the player has not completed Kings Fall, picked up a single Calcified Fragment, or accepted the Touch of Malice quest, the fastest possible time to obtain Touch of Malice is 3 days:
-Sunday: Begin ToM quest line. Complete raid. Obtain and begin charging Agonarch Rune (switch between your 3 characters to obtain 3 charges). Complete filler quests in the quest line.
-Monday: Collect the rest of the possible 43 fragments, including the Court of Oryx and chests. Then get 3 more charges on Agonarch Rune.
-Tuesday: Complete the newly-reset Tier 3 Court of Oryx. Get your last charge on Agonarch Rune and complete it for fragment. Complete filler quests in quest line. Turn in and obtain Touch of Malice.
So back to the question at hand.
"Why do you not have ToM?"
People who are able to play the game every day will have no problem. But keep in mind that some players have families, multiple jobs, school, and other time-consuming commitments.
Also, those players who were not able to begin TTK on week 1 may not have been 290+ in time for the raid. This would put them doing things like Strikes to get their light up. Because no raid = no ToM.
People who do not have ToM must understand that they will most likely be required to have the weapon in order to join a Hard Kings Fall Raid. Just like they will also be required to have 307+ Light.
This is nothing to be mad at. In the end, DESTINY is a video game that we all spend our time playing when we have nothing else to do in the real world. Do not let a video game upset you. Have fun and enjoy it.
Edit: The Nightfall is on the Dreadnought this week. There's another fragment for you guys who still need it!
Edit: The Agonarch Rune will gain 5 charges if you are with someone who is doing the Agonarch Rune event. So if your Agonarch Rune has 2 charges and a friend has a fully charged one, go help them!

Correct on the timing to get the gun-no argument there. But I think the main thing is if you are trying to do the hard raid-ToM is a night and day difference. So if trying to get in a HM oryx I can see why that is asked. For witches and oryx it is BiS.

4 RepliesIs there really a use for it outside the raid? I'm really happy with my Hung Jury and Exotic sword right now.
-
1 ReplyMy excuse for not having it is simple: it look a awful and I don't want it.
-
Touch of marshmallows

My personal favorite part of this quest line was collecting the Raid fragments that everyone in my fireteam was too impatient to take 10 minutes and grab them so it took running the raid a whole separate second time for no rewards and only for fragments. Lame.
-
10 RepliesI hate there is no way to determine what -blam!-ing fragments you have on a specific character. If you play more then one you're -blam!-ed
-
2 Repliescalling people lazy because they don't grind in a video game! is super ironic. gamers are the laziest fückers ever.

I was about to say you could actually get 44 right now because the nightfall is on the dreadnaught, but then I saw you already realized that for your edit. I agree, it's not an overnight thing. I just got mine this week since I finally stopped being too lazy to find all the fragments. I'd done all the tier 3 court of oryx bosses and all already, I just needed to finish most of the patrol ones and the ones in the story mission and strikes. Did that and got mine the night I made up my mind to get it, had something like 20/45 fragments so I went and got the other 25 or so that I needed and got the hadium flakes and got it all done. It takes some time but it's definitely worth it for the raid in my opinion.

Aganarch rune takes 1 day to charge all you need is someone with a fully charged rune and do it with them fully charged at the end
-
3 RepliesI dont have ToM because Monte Carlo is still better.

Edited by Connell1121: 10/30/2015 8:34:02 AMThere are lots of things that make the raids easier which inclde dps specials, experienced fireteams and specific proven weapons. None of them are necessary, but a party leader has every right to demand any pre-reqs without explanation or justification to you. I reluctantly toom 8hours to do ToM this week because in this community it is considered good form to have specific tools, meaning it will be easier to get into random games if I want or need to. But when if I jump into a demanding party, I will turn it around, If I have to meet your requirements, you better meet my expectations. Anyway casual run throughs are more fun. Raids for me mean a chance to chill out, eat some crap, drink a 2ltr pepsi and have a laugh with random faceless people around the world. Share the love guys

2 RepliesEdited by Schlessen: 10/30/2015 8:17:59 AMI understand what you are saying but it's been three weeks now since the Dark Below has been released. 10 to 15 minutes every other day would have netted you the gun by now. It's a fair raid requirement for the hard raid if you ask me. The people I know that don't have one put off collecting the fragments until after the hard raid released. The common theme is that they didn't want to spend the time to find the fragments. That's personal choice, not lack of playing time. Not speaking to everyone. Just the majority of people that don't have it.

I am here for your tears

Trying to get the court of oryx ones needs a team... My ppl are ALL in hard raids
-
Yes the Tom is a time consuming quest, but that's the price you pay to do the hard mode raid. If you don't want to be a hard core destiny player that is great have a life I'm sure it's great, but don't cry about people having strict restrictions for raid groups. We already waste enough time playing this game, don't waste more of our time making us carry you through something that you don't care about. Or even better yet take the time you would spend wiping raid groups to get the tom.
-
I already have the hardest fragments.... It's just not fun....it feels like a job XD. So yeah I won't be getting anymore quest specific exotics.
I'm bored
-
It's taken me awhile but I had an hour or two last night and I went through the guide to collect all the ones around the dreadnaught. I now have 38/45. All I need is 2 T2 CoO the T3 ones One from the raid And the worm singers rune and I'm all set! With having a 45+ HR job every week and living with my girlfriend it is extremely hard to set time aside to do this!
-
By now it should only take 1 day without the agornach rune. Games been out for a bit and you should have all the tier 3 fragments by now.
-
1 ReplyBest answer to them is that the raid seems like garbage, loot is garbage, time is better spent on other games. I only like destiny for the strikes and crucible playlist (I'm not a try hard looking to feel "skilled" so I don't mind it's flaws), they are quick and fun. Raids and group finding is such a garbage aspect of destiny.
-
20 minutes my ass. Took me like 6-8 hours over 2 days to get the 35 I needed from ones I hadn't randomly stumbled upon. I think I still need a T3 one for 47, too.

Edited by maestrohburritoh: 10/30/2015 5:14:30 AMI need two more fragments and i will finaly have it!!!!! Love doing the oryx fight its to much fun!! So yea i want the gun badly!!

Edited by puppyk1sses: 10/30/2015 5:16:26 AMAll this BS assumes that TTK came out this week. It's been out for 6 weeks now. Plenty of time / multiple opportunities to do everything. The way it really breaks down: -The raid frags can be picked up in one Normal run. This takes 1 hour. -The overwhelming majority of the rest of the frags can be collected in an afternoon. There are comprehensive guides to absolutely everything fragment-related now. 3-4 hours tops. -Do 3-4 T3's and one T4 in CoO. This gets you all the available frags. The bosses are laughably easy, even for a team of 3. If you have a pulse, imposable thumbs, and play Destiny you probably have a few extra T2/3 runes just sitting there. 1 hour, and that's pushing it.. -Wait for 1 weekly reset, do 1 more T3 and you're done. 10 mins. -The other few steps can be done in very short order and are not difficult at all. 2 hours, and I'm being very generous here. The only thing that is realistically holding anyone back anymore is the unfounded fear that this quest is really hard (which it is not), or sheer laziness / not caring about your character. It is well-chronicled that ToM is a top-notch KF gun, so what are you really waiting for? Just look up a guide and get it.
-
Your last edit. You can actually get all the charges in 10 minutes. I went in with a buddy, I was on my second character with a fresh one, and charged it by the end of the encounter. You just have to kill all the Majors on the left and right while your friends kills ads all over.
-
Getting this worked up over some stupid comments?
-
If someone is interested in raiding, they will get it. If not, they cannot complain if other groups choose someone that has one. If you don't want to get a weapon that is extremely helpful in the raid, and is available to everyone, well, that is your fault. The time people waste crying on the forum about not having it, they could be actually getting the fragments in game.

Yupp, only poopy scrubs NEED and ASK for ToM in Destiny_ :)
