Does bungie not realize that at the moment pulse rifles have some of the highest stability, highest range and fastest ttk out of any weapon?
I just want to point at everything wrong with pulse rifles and maybe a way to balance everything.
1. They have very little damage drop off so they are effective at long ranges being able to compete with scouts at all but the longest of ranges which often not a scenario people are put into as most maps are still small and cqc maps.
2. With nirwens mercy being sold recently many players have access to a great Pvp pulse rifle with max stability. For those of you who dont know this thing fires like a laser beam. This makes pulses very easy to use as little to no adjustments need to be made to compensate for recoil.
3. Pulse Rifles also have one of the fastest ttk of any primary being able to two burst other guardians with only a rate of fire slightly slower than hand cannons. This ability to kill things in two shots is unparalleled in the current meta and rivals thorn pre nerf.
As it stands something needs to be done to restore balance. They kill faster than all weapons at a longer range than most weapons and are the easiest primary to use.Just because I think it's funny if you actually read the post put a smiley face at the end of your comment
To balance this Pulses could take a rate of fire nerf across the board to make it so missed shots actually hurt you a lot more. Also other weapons such as hand cannons and autos should receive a slight stability and range buff to allow them to compete with pulses at mid range so pulse rifles do not dominate all ranges. Scouts could receive a rate of fire buff and a stability buff make them more viable at all ranges and to help off set these changes.

Put on my Messenger for shits and gigs. 2 shot headshot from virtually any range with almost no recoil. And they say hand cannons were overpowered.

1 ReplyA bit too strong. Should have more dmg drop off/spread from range to separate from scouts more on maps than just First Light and Bastion. Overall balance is getting better. I think handcannons need their reliability/accuracy back. I'm ok with dmg drop off, might be a bit too steep.

Although pulse rifles are very good they are not overly good because, they can be countered by a fair amount other weapons can counter them, but I do agree. one of the nerfs they could do would be to make the impact matter more. I have noticed that in crucible some weapons do equal damage compared to the high impact low RoF pulses.

This isn't related to pulse rifles but balance is not even close to being achieved considering fusion rifles are the least used weapon archetype. No I do not have statistics, I just went to rank 5 on iron banner with all characters and ate conspiracy theory D and 1000 yd stare all day
-
I would just use one, and be happy with it.

They are the same as year 1 except they had a damage and stability nerf, the problem is that Hand Canons are trash now (thanks Bungie as you could have just tweaked TLW and Thorn) and Scouts are still Scouts so everyone is just using PR's so very soon every bitch will be crying for a nerf and the cycle will continue. Next up, Scouts.

The weapon balance is the best it's been in a long time, but Pulse Rifles are definitely leading the pack now.
-
Bungie did say that pulse rifles are right where they want them to be
-
Nah, everything else just sucks. :)
-
Agreed, they are quite strong.

This current meta is the best so far IMO. All the weapons are useable, sure pulse rilfes so shine but not so much that nothing else is useable in PVP. Pulse rifles do have a drop off btw, it could be more but its no an OP distance.
-
9 RepliesI personally like the current META. I don't feel forced into using any specific weapon just to compete. Maybe pulses have a bit too much range (should not beat scouts at a range) but that is about it.
-
Honestly they should have the same damage drop off as auto rifles... I mean they're just burst fire autos if you think about it... Sure they'd be more accurate, but the range shouldn't be that much different.
-
1 ReplyShhhh. Don't let Bungie see this! Let me keep my pule rifle.
-
5 RepliesPvp is the cancer of this game.

Bungie plays us like puppet on strings.

They know they're OP the guy who does weapon tuning said in a interview he like weapons to have seasons first it was auto rifles then it was HCs then he said something along the lines of maybe it's pulse rifles hint hint I'm assuming it's going to be scouts next
-
Pretty much no one used pulse rifles for a year so Bungie buffed them (and nerfed everything else) so people would. This is common practice for this company.
-
Yep it doesn't have recoil you don't even notice the range and it kills in 2 to 3 burst..... Yep not OP

2 RepliesEdited by Angel_Soren: 10/26/2015 4:42:14 PMNo I think Handcannons and Autorifles are just too weak now. What Bungie is doing wrong is nerfing good weapons while at the same time buffing bad weapons. This leads to an imbalance for the meta game because all of a sudden the differences in "Time per Kill" wasn't regulated but instead shifted into the buffed weapons. For example, you guys remember how good Handcannons and Autorifles were back then? Now look what happened, they effectively decreased Handcannon range by increasing it's damage drop off and decreased Autorifle damage by decreasing it's base damage. At the same time, pulse rifles received a buff to their base damage. This means that not only was the efficiency of Handcannons and Autorifles decreased in the Crucible but Pulse Rifles took their place by increasing its efficiency.

no, unlike Thorn, you can actually challenge Pulse Rifles with plethora of other primaries and win on regular basis
-
Nope. Even if you can engage someone at a scout rifle distance it's still going to be harder for you to drop them in a timely fashion because you need to land all 3 bullets from each burst. not an easy feat at that distance. the scout rifle user would do better. And you can nearly avoid being 2 bursted by running high armor. (messanger still 2 bursts though.) So it's balanced. If you want to know true imbalance then refer to the end of year 1.

They do have a bit too much range. My PDX with Max stability doesn't encounter dropoff until its so far I can't land a perfect headshot burst. It's mostly how Autos are still mediocre and caught a range nerf for some reason, Scouts have ranges that don't suit the maps, and handcannons got nerfed into the ground. Pulses are the easiest and most effective weapon to use right now unfortunately.

Definitely have too much range. They should be a bit better on range and accuracy than auto rifles but require precision
