Does bungie not realize that at the moment pulse rifles have some of the highest stability, highest range and fastest ttk out of any weapon?
I just want to point at everything wrong with pulse rifles and maybe a way to balance everything.
1. They have very little damage drop off so they are effective at long ranges being able to compete with scouts at all but the longest of ranges which often not a scenario people are put into as most maps are still small and cqc maps.
2. With nirwens mercy being sold recently many players have access to a great Pvp pulse rifle with max stability. For those of you who dont know this thing fires like a laser beam. This makes pulses very easy to use as little to no adjustments need to be made to compensate for recoil.
3. Pulse Rifles also have one of the fastest ttk of any primary being able to two burst other guardians with only a rate of fire slightly slower than hand cannons. This ability to kill things in two shots is unparalleled in the current meta and rivals thorn pre nerf.
As it stands something needs to be done to restore balance. They kill faster than all weapons at a longer range than most weapons and are the easiest primary to use.Just because I think it's funny if you actually read the post put a smiley face at the end of your comment
To balance this Pulses could take a rate of fire nerf across the board to make it so missed shots actually hurt you a lot more. Also other weapons such as hand cannons and autos should receive a slight stability and range buff to allow them to compete with pulses at mid range so pulse rifles do not dominate all ranges. Scouts could receive a rate of fire buff and a stability buff make them more viable at all ranges and to help off set these changes.

Some auto rifles and hand cannons have a faster TTK up close. Especially if you're getting staggered like crazy by a mid-RoF auto. Scouts can kill you out further than a pulse reliably can, same goes for snipers. Sidearms can kill you right quick further out than a shotgun. You'd need a solid 2 burst pulse to have a chance (e.g. Red Death). It's not that pulse rifles are OP, it's that the vast majority of our engagements are in optimal pulse rifle range. That's a map problem, not a weapon problem. Same for shotguns.

I just miss the hand cannon era. It was the best.

Just a tad.

Another cry baby scrub

OMFG NOT THIS BULLSHIT AGAIN

So you're pushing for a destiny world where literally every single -blam!-ing thing is mediocre? What fun is that? If you want a dominant pulse rifle grind for drops. It's as simple as that, this game wouldn't be fun if every gun had no specialty

Don't even have to read to say yes they are
-
Nope. They just nerfed everything else into the ground. Shit PvP will never be balanced.
-
For pvp yes, but they are great for pve.

4 RepliesPulse Rifles are OP. But Bungie thinks they take "skill." Auto rifles are too weak, scouts are punished at nearly every encounter. Shotguns are useless, fusions are gay, snipers are OP and sidearms don't kill fast enough for a special weapon.

I will admit that they are more strong in comparison to the other weapon classes. They are broken down into the high impact that can two burst precision kill, or the super fast ones that kill in ridiculous times. they specialize in medium-close ranges but that is where the majority of all battles take place, only further popularizing their use.

Pretty much but leave them alone. Just bring the other stuff back to compete. Range was nerfed on many guns but pulse rifles regardless of anyone says cross map dudes

1 ReplyThe only thing that i don't like in year 2 is the nerf on accuracy on follow up shots on hand cannons. I have no problem with pulses being as good as they are right now nor do i have a problem with the range nerf on HC. Autorifles are ok, they are automatic and it's easier to use them. That follow up shot on HC...i never know where my second bullet is gonna go if i rapid fire, even though my aim is true .

1 ReplyEdited by Srasja: 10/27/2015 10:32:38 AMOh yes please nerf everything to the gorund ... Its just like the last year. It doenst matter what you will nerf or what you whine about. When Bungie nervs pulsrifles, scouts will be op and you will be back on the forums to cry about how op scouts are. Until the very moment we all have to play without any jumps, supers or granades and can only use the Khvostov there will be something thats slightly better than other things.

6 RepliesPeople like you crying for nerfs got us in this place to begin with. -blam!- you saying shit is too strong. Say other shit is too weak. All the guns suck shit but the pulses but lets just say pulses are too good instead of autos suck ass or hand cannons are trashfrom nerfers now.

14 RepliesNo, they're not. Bungie is purposely manipulating "flavor of the month" for weapons, which is absolutely absurd. Pulse Rifles are not OP, but rather all of the other weapons are severely weak by comparison.

1 ReplyEdited by Gwaltdalf: 10/26/2015 8:56:26 PMPulse rifles shine in PvP because they are the mid-range specialists and just about every map is, you guessed it, mid-range. You go to one of the few big maps and suddenly scouts are killing you left and right. Get murdered by a supercell up close and tell me autos are weak. Yes, hand cannons are frustratingly awkward right now, but maybe that's how they should have always been. After all, they're not called pistols. Long story short, I'd rather be 2-shotted by a pulse than 1-shotted by shotgun from far out.

I miss hand cannons. Not so much the exotics but just in general. Now it seems the bullets just disappear in mid air. A range and stability nerf and magazine? Way to much. Especially when any weapon flinches you to where ur shot misses. They even have the worst reload of any primary.

6 RepliesPulse rifles are fine for the most part. Their minimum ttk is not achievable on every kill because of their firing mechanics, particularly the higher impact ones. As long as there is no more archetypes like the messenger and hopscotch pilgrim, the crucible should be fine. Now I haven't looked into nirwens mercy but if it is an outlier then that gun needs to be addressed, not the whole class of weapon. That's how we keep getting into these messes, with ham handed broad stroke changes that only balance the strongest in the class (maybe) and make everything else garbage.

Edited by Wads, The Lost Nublet: 10/26/2015 10:51:10 PMI agree, and also disagree. Pulse rifles are really strong, and have been before Y2 as well. We had 2 burst pulses in year one (messenger, prenerf hopscotch, etc) but the changes to the Y2 pulses haven't helped level the field with them compared to other guns. I agree with the range drop-off should be too where they cannot compete with scouts at long range seeing as we have mostly mid range maps at best. The rate of fire could be a little lower, to compensate for the time to kill. And as for the stability, not many pulses have the laser beam stability that Nirwens Mercy has. And on that note, Bungie has said they have pulses where they want, what TRULY needs to be done is a better and wider map variety. Less mid range maps, more long ranged maps. All in all, pulse rifles are the new Thorn/TLW across most maps. There are still a few weapons/strategies that can counter them, as I have been seeing more and more types of weapons, but the "playing field" still has some tweaks in order to be even. But, take into consideration that this is (in their words) Bungles first attempt at an MMO like this, and from my own experience compared to other MMOs, it takes a LOT of work. Text aren't doing terrible, but it could be better

Edited by FatalNite: 10/26/2015 10:57:28 PMI like where pulse rifles are at ATM The other guns need buffs , HC and AR need some love and scouts are almost where pulse rifles are. Don't nerf, just make the other stuff up to par.

Put on my Messenger for shits and gigs. 2 shot headshot from virtually any range with almost no recoil. And they say hand cannons were overpowered.
