It's supposed to be a support class, but doesn't do a very good job of it - coming from someone that has been a Sunsinger since unlock. Radiant Skin is completely worthless for support and Song of Flame only helps when the fireteam is in a compact space, but the grenade and melee boost doesn't actually help when Raids force the team together as guns do a much better job. This leaves Fireborn, which receives criticism to no end for being selfish when in reality, it's the best option. Solar Grenades are good for area denial but do little damage, Firebolt Grenades have no place in PvE whatsoever and Fuison Grenades are the exact opposite of Solar, doing lots of damage but to few enemies. Brimstone and Solar Wind are two of the most useless upgrades in the game across any subclass, and Flame Shield only benefits the user. Sunburst is a reasonably good support perk, but doesn't trigger reliably like Force Barrier does, neither does it even come close to making as many orbs. I don't see a reason why I need to justify the use of Gift of the Sun but from a support perspective, it doesn't do all that much to help unless your team has prolonged periods of inactivity for which a grenade with an effective 0 Discipline bonus can charge. Edit: Redeeming feature - Radiance is the Super that, with a bit of luck, can generate by far the most orbs in a single use Wearing Claws of Ahamkara with decent enough Strength, one Radiance can generate 14 Orbs (minimum, still not entirely sure on the Orb cap without extra perks, and I'm sure I've seen a few Fireborn uses drop an orb immediately)

  • Great points. But with that logic, isn't defender only support when the team is bunched together, and nightstalker only when there is a boss?

  • Not necessarily, Defender can use Force Barrier and Iron Harvest to make a stream of orbs pretty much anywhere, and the alternative perks that affect WoD combine to drastically raise its effectiveness compared to Radiance. Even at that, WoD helps the team no matter what, whereas Radiance has to be spec-ed to have any value. As for Nightstalker, it is already more effective than Radiance but is far more versatile, worth using on a boss as much as it is against a crowd of enemies. Vanish in Smoke is also useful for rapid dispersion after gathering for DPS, Radiance does nothing of the sort. I should probably make it clear that I'm not against the use of Radiance - I mean, Nova Bomb is beyond useless and Stormtrance only has 1 very specific time during which it has meaningful contribution.

  • Gernades do more damage Fusion gernade spam has always done alot of damage.2k -3k+ damage a gernade is alot and faster when most snipers take time to shot, aim and reload. Solar gernade got a stealth buff and so did burn.They do great damage now and enemy dont always walk out now.Also it's a sustained aoe dps that can cause flinch. As for song of flame you don't have to hit everyone just the player that needs it.Also there are times when your group comes together or your in pairs.Have you ever seen a flash bang spam,suppression spam and smoke gernade spam?How about a defender waiting for his super to charge?

  • The reason you don't see those being spammed is because only one is needed to get the job done (and they all have access to a means of holding 2, Armamentarium/Sealed Ahamkara Grasps). As for Ward of Dawn, it has the quickest base recharge time of all Supers and any other Super will contribute with Orbs, it isn't as if only Radiance can do it. In comparison, however, Radiance doesn't have the same impact as WoD, and it's hard to justify the use of a Super so one person can use a grenade.

  • 10 Nades are better than 2.Also your super and melee recharge too not just nades.While your using your super you should be killing adds or giving your team some breathing room with solar.Using your super for one or more is support . nightstalker uses bow for one stormcaller to easily clean up. It how and when you use it that's matter.
