Went positive and lost progress... WTF?
Edit: Just went positive AGAIN and lost progress. This is the most aggravating quest I've had to do in this game.

I went phantom during the quest using a sniper and LMG. Only my second phantom, and it helped. But yeah, play very conservatively. It's a lot like Thorn but requiring kill streaks.

It's all about kill steaks deaths reset progress

It works better when you get 5+ kill streaks/ medal, rather then just 2 kills and one death. Its best to equip it when you get a heavy or have a super then unequip it after and if your team is going to win equip it. All you need is one really good match. I went from 15% to 80% in one match. If you have corrective measure (vog heavy machine gun) use it. Also i found rift to be the best place to get kills. Good luck buddy

3 RepliesYou can actually complete it in one match if your good enough. All you need is a 10 kill streak. But the way I completed it was I started off in mayhem clash only equipping my TLW when I had a super. This keeps you from losing progress. Then Once I realized you can get progress even with secondary and heavy weapons I kept TLW equiped and just sniped. Only rushing in when I had a super. At that point, I finished it in about 4 matches.

3 RepliesPlay a Titan sunbreaker in mayhem clash . It will be done very soon

Edited by Xandurpein: 10/22/2015 2:12:56 PMAs far as I understand it, you get +1 for normal kill, +2 for headshot and -2 for Death. This means you can go positive K/D and still loose progress. In addition you get bonus Points for killing sprees and double/triple kills. This is where the real progress is made. If you are not an elite PvP player, the best way to progress consistently is to only equip TLW when your super is loaded or you have snatched a Heavy ammo. As soon as you run rampant with your super or emptied your Rocket Launcher you unequip TLW again. You can also equip TLW in the last seconds of the game if your team is winning as a win give you a few bonus poits too, if you have TLW equipped.

Equip TLW & play mayhem clash. stay hidden if you need to until your super is charged. Kill with supers & heavy. It gets it done pretty quick.

11 RepliesBased on my experience, it works like this: Equip the last word. Head into crucible Lose all one on one fights because you suck with the last word Switch to secondary Finish the round with a k/d under 1 Check progress and confirm still at 0% Unequip last word Convince yourself you don't want the chaperone and move on.
-
Need to go like 2.0 + to gain progress on it.
-
I just played normally but used a Shotgun rather than TLW, you only need it equipped, don't necessarily have to use it. Here's the strat that my less skilled friends who are terrible in Crucible have all used: Play normally without TLW equipped Get super and/or heavies Equip TLW Kill multple players Unequip before dying Repeat Your progress will only ever be positive because you're only registering kills, progress isn't counted when the gun isn't equipped.

Every time you die you lose two percent. Every kill with the last word only counts as one percent although a headshot kill counts as two percent. So of you were only getting one kill per life than you would still be at 0%. Keep in mind you can use your special, heavy, and super when you are doing this. As long as you have TLW equipped any kill counts towards progression. The best way to make progress is to get killstreaks. Every kill after a five killstrwak counts for more percentage. For example. My first game every doing the chaperone bpinty I went on a 17 kill streak. I ended up with 43% on my bounty after that one game.

I am terrible with the last word and even I finished it. The trick is to understand how the scoring for it works. Kills with the last word are 15 points, headshots are 25 points. (It says a percentage but check the app and you will see it's 1500 points) A game win is 75 points. A "Merciless" medal is 100 points, and a "Relentless" is 250. I think a double is worth an additional 25 points, and a triple and breaker are worth more. I've heard that a "Phantom" and "We've ran out of medals" is a full 1500 points, but I'm not that good. What I did is get a four kill streak with other guns and have your super. Switch to the last word and pop your super, kill one (or more people) and get yourself that 7%. Unequip it and then equip it for game wins. If I can do it, anyone can do it.

I've found that multiple death without a kill take more away. So kill death death kill, will lose you some whereas kill death kill death, would keep you even.
-
6 RepliesKill is 1% Death is 2% Headshot kills is 2% Killstreaks and medals are bonus!
-
You don't even have to get kills with the gun you just need it equipped. Find a corner on some of the classic 6v6 playlist maps and go to work. I don't even play the new crucible maps to do bounties unless it specifies rift or something for the new dlc bounty

The quest appears to be bugged and the values (at least for me) change randomly. For example i started the quest at 0, played maybe 3 games never passing a 2.2 ish k/d. Made it to about 46% i think. Then the next game I got super, epuipped LW.. Got 4 sol kills, then 2 last word kills, then died once. So thats 6 kills , one death. Went to progress bar - went from 46% to 44% on a 6:1 k/d , while previously i was 1.8 to 2.2 k/d and made it to 46% in only a handful of games.

Just equip it right before a win, that's a free 3%. It takes time but it's guaranteed

Edited by OriginalMrDave: 10/22/2015 12:56:52 PMAll about kill streaks. If you get 10 kills and 5 deaths by getting 5 lots of 2 kills you'll lose out. If you get a 10 kill streak then die 5 times you'll probably be positive. Thats the way I found it anyway, as soon as I started focusing on get a string of kills rather than lots of kills I did it in no time. I also found that headshot kills are worth more than normal kills but not enough to make it worth risking aim down the sights. Also play classic free for all. Seems to be the easiest mode as all the maps are quite short range.

5 RepliesBoost it man

Death takes away progress, don't die or don't equip unless you have super or about to win.
-
Gotta focus on not dying as much as possible. If you think you might lose a gunfight, leave it. Set yourself for easy kills
-
Don't worry your gonna be able to complete it for 1000 silver
-
It works by tourturing you.. I mean by having you use The Last Word. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Only in Christmas

I just played my regular loadout & equipped TLW at the end of winning matches. didn't do it in 3 matches like everyone else, but I did it with no effort.

3 RepliesHere's the cheese: Unequip TLW > enter crucible > gain super > equip TLW > unleash super (don't die, and try to get multi kills) > repeat.
