A Flood infected Scarab?

I was playing halo 3 today on the level the covenant and I thought to my self "Since scarabs are alive and they are the worm hunter things, could they be infected by flood, not infected i the game but What do you guys think a Flood infected Scarab would be like?

 • If I recall correctly, the flood only infects sentient beings with a supportive amount of biomass. Since hunters are worm colonys of semi-sentient beings, the worms them self should be killed rather than infected. With no worms, there is nothing to control the colony, and the scarab would just be an empty shell.

 • I believe the lekgolo worms are too thin for an infection form to burrow into.

 • In some ways it could make it weaker. Scarabs are hard to kill because of the armor but when the flood takes over an enemy such as an elite most of the armor is broken off. You would be able to just shoot the scarab with a rocket or any other weapon for that matter and eventually it would break apart enough that it wouldn't be able to hurt you anymore. Also even though the scarab has the hunter worms as part of its makeup all the weapons are mechanical and the flood wouldn't be able to use them. The only thing I can think of that the infected scarab would be able to do is spew out the smaller infection forms but thats basically useless if there are no bodies to infect.

 • Nope. For one thing, Lekgolo worms (yes, they make up Hunters and Scarabs) are about the same size as an infection form and lack calcium. For another, ignoring point one, you would need the same amount of infection forms as the worms, and need to squeeze them through the entire Scarab (which is packed like sardines).

 •
Posted by: Mattty Man 007 Scarabs are alive?!
Yes. Actually, they're controlled by the same worms that make up an Mkalegkolo (otherwise known as a Hunter)

The orange worms cannot be infected. tey don't have the same form of central nervous system that an Infection Form needs to infect. Basically, they are too small, there are too many of them and they form a hive mind, instead of living individually. If you don't believe/understand me, search 'Flood infection Forms' in Halopedia. Should give you the relavent information :)
Really should look above you next time ^_^
Yeah, three pags worth of posts! Sometimes, a guy just wants to be lazy :P Meh, it's a clarification for the really dumb :)
no u

 • Since Hunters are a collection of worm-like creatures, and have no nervous system, they cannot be infected by the Flood.

 • Its impossible because the Lekgola worms don't have a spinal cord for the flood to tap into... That is how the flood gains control over its victims. I digs through the skin and burrows is self into the victim's body and then proceeds to tap into the nervous system in order to gain control of the person. Once full control is established, the flood form excretes acid in order to gain food from the victims own body... by turning them into a walking rotten corpse, aka a combat form. But hunters and scarabs are actually hives of single organisms without a spine or nervous system, this is why they are infection proof.
