I am posting this poll, because I am finding the new Destiny upgrade economy to be wholly based around doing the Kings Fall Raid in order to get to the highest level of the game, ie: Level 300 plus. I am a full time professional adult and parent who finds gaming more rewarding than watching television in my small amount of free time (less of course the time I read books). I have come to love Destiny as it is a wonderfully designed game, full of fast paced and difficult challenges. I am wondering if I should just accept that if I want to get to the endgame levels, I am going to have to take a vacation from my life for a time and devote my entire life to the game, or if I might not be alone in my frustration and it might be possible to foment a change in the current games light level economy.
Before anyone jumps in and makes a bunch of suggestions for alternative ways to level up, I want to make it clear that I have tried every possible thing that the game offers and the highest level gear or weapon I have had drop has been a 300 helmet. I am aware that Bungie is patching Nightfall rewards today and this may offer me some hope, as I can manage to usually find the time once a week to to do the Nightfall Strike. That being said, I am curious how much actual playtime the biggest part of the Destiny Player community has and whether this new economy and the crucial nature of the raid to reach endgame light levels is what the largest part of that community wants and is able to achieve. Or is this game played largely by young people with unlimited amounts of playtime and I am pissing into the wind in hoping for a change.
Edit1: So I am seeing a trend. It seems the majority, so far, and by a very large % have plenty of time. Interesting.
Edit2: Ive learned quite a bit here. And I thank everyone for their honest input (except of course the ever present Destiny Trolls who felt they needed to ruin a good discussion) Destiny listens and if I had found that most of us felt this way, I would have lobbied for change, but as I can see here, I am in the minority so I will adjust my attitude about the raid by doing it in pieces and finding others with schedules like mine. I also learned that "that quest" I was ignoring with the dreaded Crucible kills required with my sword was actually a nearly completed exotic sword bounty that will net me a 310 sword which should get me closer to 300 so I can get some higher level stuff to drop for me. This is why I love this game. The company listens to its players and the community is prolific in its opinions. Rock on Guardians! Mucho Appreciado!

I work and go to college. Done kings fall.
-
I raid when friends invite me. I don't care for it enough to ever LFG for just myself. Raiding is actually my least favorite activity.
-
Even with pug groups from lfg.net I can beat kings fall in about an hour and a half to two hours.
-
I basically made a pact with my wife and fireteam. I basically said "Friday night is my raid night".
-
KF should only take about hour and a half to 2 hours now

1 ReplyI don't have enough time to do everything I want in Destiny either. As far as the raid goes, sunk a good amount of hours in it, haven't finished it yet and I don't mind. In a month or so you can learn the raid fast when lots of new sherpas rise. If you have trouble finding people with the same schedule, try the100 https://www.the100.io/?r=70688 it really helped me out a lot. Have yet to meet an asshole there and I've been using it for months now. Just friendly laidback gamers.

Edited by beedel: 10/20/2015 6:06:10 PMWe do what we can in 1.5hrs. Sometimes we finish, sometimes we leave at the Oryx Checkpoint and finish it the next day. FYI - I'm in my 40's with two active kids, and my wife and I both work full time. I get in 1-2hrs a day on average. FYI2 - Try the 100, you'll find some great people to play with at a similar age to you, who play at the same time for prearranges raids, and fire teams. https://www.the100.io/

It's takes us 3 hours to do 3 kings fall raids.. Get a good team and knock them out fast
-
Can complete the raid from start to finish in an hour. Don't need that much time
-
I go to school and work but the raid only takes about an hour
-
I work full time also and am in the process of basically doing a slight remodel to my home which takes up almost every evening so I only get a very limited amount of time to play for long periods. But hopefully will be finished this week and this weekend I'll be able to play for a few hours. If your in ps4 I'll gladly play when available

My problem isn't that I don't have enough time to put into the game. I play way more than most people. The problem is that people are already reverting back to how it was with VOG. I still haven't tried the new raid at all! My friends have their raids groups and I'm not on them. I don't have max gear and they don't feel like carrying anyone. Total crap! Just like before. Don't have a max Ghorn? Sorry! Frankly I'm tired of people relying on the best gear and they have no patience for learning. It's like they didn't know what they are doing the first time, and they certainly didn't have the best gear then either, so theyre a bunch of competitive jerks that don't really care about having a good time.
-
In the limited amount of time you have play the raid. With a decent group you can get through it 1-2 hours.
-
Just take the raid in small chunks. No one encounter takes more than 10-15 mins. Start one and if you don't finish say sorry guys but that's all the time I got. Then try again next time. Everyone has had to find players mid raid it's nothing new. Enjoy yhe game at your pace and good luck.

Edited by NinjaBadgerBurn: 10/20/2015 5:18:29 PMPersonally I've stopped worrying about reaching max level as all other content outside of the raid doesn't really necessitate the extra light. Sitting just below 300 on my hunter, am happy with all the gear I've put together and don't really see any point in grinding out the raid for higher level pieces. It all seems a bit fruitless when the differences are so minor. But I do feel they should offer other avenues to obtain better gear for all players, to satisfy those that want to max out but are time restricted etc (Hopefully they'll do this with Nightfall / Trials / Iron Banner moving forward)

Don't have kids and in college but I do have a girlfriend. Did enough partying and don't really care for the nightlife anymore. So I would say I have enough time.
-
you just need a good raid group. I play a couple times a week and for only a few hours bit I get everything done each week with time to do crucible. I play a bit more on my days off
-
I do a rotation of sleep one night, game the next... I had worked out well this far, but I do wish my kids would sleep I'm on the weekends
-
Last week i played a few hours every evening, and on Saturday, i did the raid 3 times back-to-back (one on each character)
#timemanagement
-
Some of us make time. I work 50+ hours a week have a wife and two kids and I've done it 17 times already so I mean if the wife understands the addiction lol
-
I feel you. I have a full time job and have kids. My schedule just changed at work so now I can find a full day to play. Before I could only get a couple of hours a night to play and it's taken FOREVER to level up enough to even try raids. I never got to do VoG, most of PoE, and only got to finish dark below one time. Sucks having no free time.
-
less time but great friends they help out
-
I'm in a clan for adult gamers and a lot share the same problem. It's a big time investment to get everybody up to raid level and teach them what to do. We spent 2 hrs a night almost every night last week and only managed to get to the Daughters (one night was a bust due to game glitching out) Yeah yeah, I know "git gud scrub" Problem is, every member of your team has to be nearly perfect to finish this raid.
-
The last two times i did it took about 1.5 hours for the full raid. Hopefully this trend continues! On days when I don't have time I just go right for oryx(if I have 20 moldering shards) and do the rest in pieces later
-
What console? My clan is very active we often try to get everyone through the raid at least twice a week. Does not always happen and it's usually broke into sections due to schedules

3 RepliesIf you're with the right people you can do kings fall in 2 hours easily. Nightfall in 30 mins. If you don't have the time to do those then I'm sorry but that has to do with you and not the game design. You should need to do the high level content to be rewarded
