One Pool Golgoroth Strategy A Cheese??

Ive done both strategies. Multiple pools, and single pool. Both work, however the single pool is easier to get the hang of. But Byf has stated that the single pool method is a cheese. What do you guardians think? Personally I think its just a safer strategy. There is no exploitation of game mechanics at all.

  • Bet hardmode Will have Some kind of mechanic to not allow people to do the one pool strategy. Would be so sick if they made people wipe after a failed gaze grab.

  • Takes my group 2 and half rounds doing 1 pool. 5 black spindles with WoL on a tether golgoroth do more damage than 4. Also (serious question here) with multiple pools, who shoos at the next orb? When I do it with randoms they want the people shooting at golgoroth to shoot the next orb down, that means there are 4 - 5 seconds when people aren't dpsing him? Also, who's clearing the cursed thrall, randoms say the ones in the pit should, but that's yet another person not shooting at him. Would it be easier if the guy without the gaze kill the cursed thrall. All in all every group I've done it with that has done multiple bubbles with has dealt the same amount, or less, damage doing multiple bubbles than doing just one. Any advice from anybody would be helpful because I feel like using the multiple bubble strat is going to be more useful in Hardmode

    • Its not a cheese. Its just a safer and less stressful way to fight the boss.

    • Then I have lost a lot of respect for Byf. Multiple pools requires huge coordination that a lot of teams have trouble with. My team always has 4+ Spindles so single pool works just as well, if not better.

    • Its less of a cheese than shooting Oracles from the top on VoG, yet that was a widely accepted strategy. I'd bet most of the people claiming 1-orb is cheep have never run Oracles legit. Personally I think its a legitimate strategy as the orbs are there to shoot, you stand in the pool, you shoot, you kill. Nothing out of the game mechanics. Also, is it worth arguing about? Bungie never stopped people sniping Oracles from on high, never stopped them running the Abyss, only tried once then gave up the fight against the bridge cheese. Considering how damn long this raid is, I'm sure Bungie are happy however we are doing it.

The single pool strat takes so much longer. My raid team can kill golgoroth in 1 1/2 rounds of doing all bubbles Edit: with 1000-yard stares. Black spindle could make it to faster but since we don't have them 310 anymore we use the next best thing (not the weapon lol)

        • Doing one pool is stupid. It takes way too long and there's not really any reason not to do multiple pools at a time.

          • It's a cheese and a crutch. we'll see this confirmed on Friday when golgoroth has more health, cursed thrall will have yellow health bars and the totem will charge on gazes dropped.

          • Definitely would it call it a cheese as its being played as intended, just simpler mechanics. Running one pool you also run the risk of enraging him (if you're not doing enough DPS per pool) so there's that. I imagine hard mode will limit our ability to single pool.

I've only killed him twice but we used single pools both times and it worked really well. If you are running with randoms (like me) single pool is probably the way to go

            • Really all this time I thought that's how it's usually done. One person gets his gaze well everyone dps him in the pool. Rinse, repeat.

              • I took a couple friends in the raid for the first time last night. It's just easier to explain 1 bubble, hop out and rinse.

              • Hell no. If you've got a bunch of ignorant pvpers who only know how to shoot things with no teamwork the one orb method is probably better.

                • We are left on our own to figure out the best way to make it through the raid. It's normal mode, it's supposed to be flexible and teach us what to expect for hard mode. In my opinion, cheeses only really exist in hard mode where the method needed to beat the boss is more strict.

                • Bungee never told us how to do, we found a strategy that doesn't exploit any of the mechanics.
