Ive done both strategies. Multiple pools, and single pool. Both work, however the single pool is easier to get the hang of. But Byf has stated that the single pool method is a cheese. What do you guardians think? Personally I think its just a safer strategy. There is no exploitation of game mechanics at all.

8 RepliesWhy do people use the word of some random motherf#cker as if they're some authority on the game? So what, they play often... they dedicate a twitch or youtube channel towards suckering people for views in order to make money, so what makes that person the all saying voice of how a game should be played. Chances are, people like that need a swift kick in the dick to shut them the f#ck up real quick.

2 RepliesIt's not a cheese... it's just another method to kill golgoroth. Calling it a cheese would be like saying that nuking atheon with 5 ghorns was a cheese back in year 1.
-
It's not a cheese. It's a strategy. Most teams split up to take out adds then regroup to dps Golgoroth. Always meeting up in the same place reduces confusion. Using grenades to get Atheon to walk off the cliff was a cheese. Unplugging as Crota spawns was a cheese. What Byf is referring to is definitely not a cheese.
-
I dont know how it can be a cheese. You still have to clear adds, you still have to obey all mechanics, you still are in danger of dying, and the same rules apply to a wipe. It's only a cheese if you are completely safe, or break game mechanics. Whoever said this is an idiot.
-
Not a cheese imo
-
Byf is wrong I expect we'll need a rethink with hard mode anyway
-
Different strategy =|= cheese.
-
Cheese avoids mechanics, one bubble you still have to deal with everything, albeit a little less hectic.
-
Not a cheese a strategy...
-
2 RepliesHow exactly? More Bubbles just means you do more damage, less bubbles just prolongs the encounter as your doing less damage. Not a cheese.
-
No its a strat...a cheese breaks a mechanic..you arent doing that here.
-
13 RepliesIt's a cheese cause there are 6 orbs and there's a mechanic to grab the gaze before the original gaze runner timer runs out

BYF is stupid. He told all not to be dark below, he bought it first day. He told us not to buy The Taken King, he bought it first day. Don't get your sources from him
-
"I do it the harder way so it's obviously the proper way" - Pretty sure there is a term for this
-
1 Reply
But Byf has stated that the single pool method is a cheese.
I have no idea who that is, but if that's the case then he's an idiot.
-
Not really
-
No cheese but i think u will need all orbs for hardmode. Better be prepared
-
3 RepliesIt's not a cheese, it's practically the same mechanics as Templar. Let him teleport, save up super, hit him again, dps, repeat. Or you could kill the Templar in one go, stand in rings, prevent teleport, GG if your group is good enough to handle that. Golgoroth is the same thing if you don't think so and actually believe doing the single orb is a cheese you've never done VoG and will not be raiding with me anytime soon
-
Silly to even ask if it is a cheese. It is not breaking the gameplay, just a "safer" strat.
-
But Byf has stated that the single pool method is a cheese.
Does he also say that beating Crota with one sword is a cheese? Probably not. ;-)

I keep seeing comments where people say "that's not how the game was intended to be played" So I have a question: did Bungie send something out telling all of us what their intent was when the fights were designed? I'm not talking about things like pulling the plug on Crota. But I remember the big thing about Atheon and I always wondered why it was okay if we fell off the edge dodging shots from Atheon, but if he fell off the edge, that wasn't the way the game was intended to be played. My guess is that if the first team to beat Golgoroth had used the one pool strategy, that would be the standard and all others would be deemed "cheeses".

Edited by Sipau Fade: 10/20/2015 3:20:51 PMNo. I would say it's a good strategy for pugs and people who have a hard time working together. My clan-bros have come to lightly make fun of me because of my views on this strategy. I hate this strategy. I think it robs the experience of the chaotic and fun feeling it was probably intended to be. It is harder to do the 6 bubble way but more fun and rewarding. I just do not like doing things the easy way. No fun. No challenge.
-
It's not a cheese lol. It's just that its normal mode and you can do enough dps without switching. I think it's safe to say in hard mode you will have to pass the gaze
-
It isn't a cheese at all. You shorten the total damage time in exchange for an extra player to damage and simplicity. Multiple pools end the fight faster with a good group, but single pool gets the job done effectively and easily so long as just one person understands how to taunt Golgoroth.

Edited by Pixel Crisis: 10/20/2015 3:22:17 PMIMO - Byf is all kinds of wrong here. It's not a cheese, it's just a strat. Cheesing is doing things like jumping all the way up on top and out of the playable area on Crota Bridge, or the tried and true Bridge Cheese where only one person goes across and everyone dies / rez's etc. Doing the one pool method has you still using the mechanics of the fight, but only a bit of it - no one is glitching out of the map / doing things in an odd way. You don't HAVE to use all of the pools.
