Nightfall Reward Changes Tomorrow
Tomorrow morning, a new patch is going live that will include changes to Nightfall rewards. In order to benefit from these new changes please refrain from playing the Nightfall until after the patch goes live.
As usual, we will try to deploy around 10am PST. These won't be the only changes. Stay tuned here on Bnet, or on our [url=https://twitter.com/Bungie/]Twitter[/url] for more updates.

Once u are over 300 light no rewards are good. NF is not worth doing. I even stopped raiding and then eventually stopped playing destiny. The grind is not worth it. I have all exotic weapons but there is no point in grinding them past 280 light. The end game grind is to much this time. If I have a weapon I like at 280, it takes way to much game time just to improve one weapon. Hard Mode raid should guarantee a primary from oryx! I didn't kill him for the same rocket launcher I got off the warpriest. ToO guarantee an adept primary so should hard raid. Bungiee, go back to the basics, remove RNG from the light level drops.

Fix hard raid. Beaten it 6 times and not once got a primary. Then got all 310 primaries from trials until I got my 315 water star

72 RepliesI just read your patch notes. Nightfall rewards are STILL going to suck. Do you guys not understand how loot systems work or do you really just want to dick over your player base as long as possible. I love Destiny, I admit I'm an addict to it. That's the only explanation why I can read everything you do and think it sounds like stupidity and yet keep playing the game contributing to your numbers. As someone who deals with programming, as someone who deals with mathematics, let me be clear here: The % chance for something to drop doesn't actually mean that X out of 100 games will get you that item. This has more to do with Iron Banner than anything. I'm almost positive somebody in your dev department was like: Let's make the drop rate 5%! That means 1 out of 20 games they'll get something! Which is mind blowing and completely false logic with regards to statistics. *As for these Nightfall rewards, the reason nobody was doing them was because 280 gear was already obsolete and that meant only exotics and a perfectly rolled legendary would be a worthwhile time investment. 290 gear is already obsolete for a lot of people and will be obsolete even faster soon enough and you'll be once again in the EXACT SAME PLACE YOU WERE BEFORE THIS PATCH. *Strange coins and 3oC buffs are ok, but rewarding marginally valuable currency as a reward for something you have discussed as challenging content doesn't feel rewarding. That's just basic game psychology. Ask any player if they'd rather get a bonus 10 mouldering shards off War Priest or an actual weapon and you're not going to find many idiots voting for mouldering shards (even if they were designed to work properly). *Literally the one thing that people DO want from Nightfalls almost unanimously that would actually make them worthwhile for months and months to come which you still haven't figured out for reasons inexplicable to me is a large faction rep reward. People want that for shaders, for emblems, for exotic class items. THAT is a somewhat acceptable salve to not getting a good item at the end. It's getting so hard to defend you guys at this point. I love the gameplay so much it's sad that logging in sickens me knowing I'm supporting such brain dead implementation.

I finished NF with my Titan and it gave me 290 Hunter Cloak :(

I got fricken legendary arms while the rest of my team got exotics. Lol. Love the changes.

My usual group decided to test out the new and improved nightfall rewards. Got got mostly legendaries above 300. I also got 17 strange coins in one run. We were all ~305 light so these aren't the best rewards, but we all had things we wanted to infuse with those legendaries. So that was considerably better than getting a bunch of 280 stuff that would get sharded. Nightfalls aren't really supposed to be supplementing your raid tier gear. They are below the raid in terms of commitment and rewards. Or at least they were. It'll take some time, but mid-to-high 300s are now possible outside the raid. That is [i]huge[/i] for those who can't commit to the raid. Granted, we are about to start getting 310-320 gear from the hard mode, again making nightfalls useless for raid tier gear. But it's still great for that non-raid gear you always wanted to boost above 300, but didn't want to use raid gear to infuse. I assume most people were hoping for 330 exotics to rain from the nightfall and seriously, that was probably expecting far too much. As for the rep, I quit chasing shaders and ships a long time ago. Bungie's new rep system will be ok once we have massively excess stockpiles of materials for donations, until then, ranking up is a slower process. A slower process I all but ignore at this point... Besides, 90% of the time I get a 280 legendary that gets sharded, what's my incentive for ranking up factions? This is all from my point of view anyway. Things may be entirely different for others. Either or, No Time To Explain kind of made yesterday pretty awesome IMHO.

It's the same freaking thing in year 2! So what the heck is everyone complaining about? no one complained about nightfall rewards in year 1. And I know there isn't an xp boost or rep from nightfalls anymore but I never really did nightfalls in year 1 for that because I had everything levelled up. So what gives people?

Things that shouldnt drop - legendary armor, legendary weapons under your current light level/ same for exotics, antiquated runes, strange coins, three of coins. High light level exotics and legendary weapons should be the only rewards IMO
