Is iron banner pulse worth buying?
Close to rank 5 and trying to determine if I should buy the pulse or not. Is it worth spending the marks for it?

1 ReplyIt's hilarious how many non-pulse rifle users keep claiming hawksaw, herja-D, or bad juju are better. So take it from an almost exclusive pulse rifle user, it's the best pulse rifle in the game for pvp currently. Unless you get a spare change with counter balance and hand laid stock. Red death is equally as good, but usually has the same time to kill, because it's rare to get a two burst all crit kill due to the terrible stability.

1 ReplyNegative ghost rider. It does 22/32 damage making it have the same rate of fire as a 2 pulse kill, but not being able to do a 2 pulse kill. Max stability, good reload, everything you would hope for... Vendor Hawksaw is the best pulse rifle you can buy for now. It will never be Nirwens mercy.

It's VERY good. VERY high base stability with a good recoil pattern. It's more of a long range pule rifle though (despite a lower than average range stat). And the one on sale by lord saladass has a great roll. Red death with Agressive ballistics can do 34x3 damage so 204 on a 2 burst kill. Which will kill the most players in PVP. With the mercy you have more than twice the stability, but at 32x3 damage per burst you are doing 192 for 2 bursts to the head. This means that you can only kill low armor hunters and warlocks (and I would estimate that 1/10th of players run low armor), and I don't even think you can 2 burst a titan. Also it does 22x3 to the body so 3 bursts to the body will do 198. I can't remember off the top of my head what red death does to the body but it's more than likeley 23/24. So red death does 207(ish) to the body, getting you that 3 burst kill. Also with the red death you have unflinching which makes 1v1s easier. And that red death perk that heals you on a kill is BEAUTIFUL. Seriously it saves me 3-4 times a match minimum. The mercy is more of a ranged weapon, treat it as you would a scout rifle, with that stability you are only going to see burst seperation at very long ranges. I use my mercy as a counter sniper weapon (seriously, what is the flinch modifyer on this weapon?) where as red death is more of an agressive mid range weapon.

It is pretty good in pvp but isn't that great in pve do to low rate of fire in my opinion.

I thought it was pretty epic at first...then I realized that it gets outgunned by red death, the raid pulse rifle, bad juju, and pretty much every other pulse rifle. It's not nearly as useful as I had hoped...

The pulse rifle is amazing. 2 headshot kill and it's so fast, hardly any recoil. Easily worth the marks.

10 RepliesI have a Hakke Pulse from the first arms day that is basically identical but has rangefinder and head seeker so it wasn't worth it.

Unlike you already have a god roll pulse rifle the answer is yes, anybody who says otherwise has no idea what he is talking about. Yes, it is better than Red Death because you Red Death isn't anywhere as good at distances longer than midrange.

It is pretty nice though, just cannot compare to RD with that health after kill buff. Blows Bad Juju out of the water in my opinion though, so there is that.
