Oryx Drops Broken? Help?

So this week I did the raid three times. I had some interesting things come up... Wanna see if more educated forum people could help me out. Previously, in weeks past, I had beaten oryx and it took my 20 shards and gave me 2 shards as my rewards. So this week I decided to stash all my shards and see what happens as far as drops go. My rewards from 3 oryx encounters: 1. 2 Shards 2. 2 Shards, Antiquated Rune 3. 2 Shards I literally did not get a single Weapon or Armor piece from all 3 encounters total, while not spending shards. The raids were done fresh after reset, and done from the beginning on each character. So my question is that are shards required to get any kind of drop or what's going on? Am I just that unlucky? I've only received 3 anguish of drystans as rewards from this guy, all were 300. I have found 6 ghost shells total so far, 5 were 300 and the one from last night was 304. I have done the raid 3 times per week every week since the release, except for the first week, which I beat the raid one time. What's going on here?? Also, if I do the oryx encounter after already receiving rewards from oryx this week, but have 20 shards, can I still get rewards?

Don't worry! Bungie is adding a consumable that you can buy (with real money) that gives you extra drops with boss kills in the raid
not a joke, it's a real thing.
Edit: old info, get over it.
