Let's start with the basics:
RoF: The RoF is maxed so nothing we can do here or it'll resemble much more like a hand cannon.
Impact: This should be increased. Currently killing with 3-4 headshots or 4-5 body shots. The reason for this is because it has shotgun to low fusion rifle range. These little things can't snipe or shoot at fusion rifle range easily. They should kill with 2 headshots or 3 body shots. Reason why is because they mainly compete with shotgun at close range. Only difference is a shotgun can kill you instantly.
Range: Like I mentioned before they can't snipe and I don't want them to snipe. The range is only good to be able to compete with Fusions and Shotguns. Damage falloff should be increased when fighting a Fusion at optimal range though so they have more of a chance to charge up their blast. Up against a shotgun ranged weapon though no damage falloff.
Stability: Fine as is.
Reload: Fine as is.
Magazine size: Currently too low in compliance with the low damage. Shotguns have the potential of many OHK shots. Yet, currently, Sidearms need 4 shots average to kill someone and we only get 30 rounds. 24 with certain ones. This decreases our fighting chance with specials if we run out of ammo quickly. If we only need 2 shot headshot at shotgun range then we have the potential to get 15 kills almost equalling Shotgun kill potential.
Note that these weapons still seem as if they are projectile based instead of hitscan. You can still miss at mid range if you shoot them directly and very few times it seems as if the hits aren't registering.
What do you guys think about this? It might just be able to compete with shotguns now.

I think they're fine as is.
-
2 RepliesI think they're fine as they are! Problem is, shotguns are still too strong (especially range) and fusion rifles are one hit kill guns. So no need for sidearms as secondary, sadly.
-
Nope. They are fine if you use them like side arms and not like a shotgun.
-
It's for self defense. Use against a charging shotgunner while backing up. Don't actually use it to charge the shotgunner!
-
To me, they all feel about the same
-
I think make them a niche. Have them do bonus damage to mobs shields.
-
6 RepliesOnly problem I have with them is the travel time. Other than that I think they're great with universal or nlb
-
I just think sidearms should all have QuickDraw as a baseline perk. They're still fine though.
-
I'd rather the sights be accurate. It seems where I aim the bullet doesn't hit.
-
Lol no keep it as it is
-
Ib sidearm super op
-
Don't like

1 ReplyI think the first problem and a lot of shotgunners problems are that these weapons are referred to as SPECIAL WEAPONS NOT PRIMARY WEAPONS. With an exception of a few weapons like Universal Remote and Vex Mythocast, etc... Sidearms and shotguns I believe are not meant to be your primary source of kills. Those weapons are best for SPECIAL situations such as using a shotgun in tight close quarters maps and areas or switching to a sidearm to finish a kill instead of reloading. I'm not in anyway telling you that your wrong by running around with a shotty, sidearm, or fusion rifle like its a primary just stating my opinion.

More stability (same as Vestian). Slightly higher magazine (no more than 20).
-
3 Replies
Stability: Fine as is.
Uhmm, no. Stability is my only real complaint against sidearms. Vestian Dynasty was amazing. The current archetype of sidearms have waaay too much recoil to be practical. If the recoil was just slightly easier to manage, I would use sidearms ALOT more.
-
Or use it as intended by finishing an enemy off with it
-
I'd use sidearms but the thing is I'm not a little bitch
-
i just think they need 5 things 1) larger mag size max being like the dregs promise 2) more stability like the vestian dynasty 3) more reserve ammo i keep running out even with ammo perks 4) more variation full auto ones and burst ones or perhaps exclusive perks that change this on the weapon itself 5) more range i need to be dealing full damage from a distance to keep both shotguns and fusions at bay in crucible, in PVE i need to keep enemies from charging me if my side are tapers off at shot gun distance well the enemies too close to even want to use the side arm in the first place...
-
I'd love to duel wield them and just keep them as is

Edited by Dawra: 10/16/2015 5:26:03 PMMore reserve ammo from respawning More ammo you can carry And quickdraw should be on all sidearms as a standard perk
-
They aren't meant to be used as a primary. It's supposed to be able to clean up kills when your primary is out of ammo..
-
1 Reply3 heashots at close range, 2 would be too op
-
Edited by Sixclicks: 10/16/2015 5:12:18 PMThey're good the way they are. They shoot fast and accurate within their range and hit for up to around 60 damage. You can stop a shotgunners before they make it to you. I sometimes evergreen use my Havoc Pidgeon as if it were a primary and still score the highest. This is all for PvP of course. They suck in PvE imo.

3 RepliesEdited by Vertibird: 10/16/2015 4:38:57 PMBump im going to make a post like this mind if i copy everything you said? Im making a post like this because the more posts like this the more bungie sees it

2 Replies2 headshots!!!! are you crazy, with the speed people shoot those, thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard...if you cant kill people with sidearms you are jsut bad with them
-
3 RepliesThey are not supposed to compete. Use them on larger more open map so you can hit people at ranges that shotguns can't reach.
