Greetings,
I would like to take a moment here to discuss the underlying flaw of Iron Banner. I do not ask you to support or defend my position only to consider it.
Power Matters. That is the mantra which Bungie uses to sell Iron Banner to us. But what does that mean really? Where does that come from? Everyone knows the highest armor comes from the raid- pve. So think about that. A pve centric player will have the best gear for a pvp event. I, as a player who spends most of my time in pvp is basically given the middle finger by bungie. My interest in doing mosty pvp puts me at a disadvantage in a pvp competition. Swell.
I believe this is the fatal flaw of iron banner. A pvp event which, instead of recognizing the pvp playerbase who spend the majority of their time there, instead IB is a crutch system to give pve players an advantage; a helping hand.
And once you see that flaw, it's impossible to view Iron Banner as a legitimate pvp competition.
What's really important to a dedicated pvp player? Take some time to think about it. What makes pvp truly a challenge? Skill. Skill Matters. Your skill being pitted against others skills. And if anything, the normalization of attack/defence values of regular crucible is the true test of one skill. To defeat an opponent who has as much potential to defeat you is the challenge. The satisfaction. The reward.
This is the irony of Iron Banner. It Is a pvp event for pve players under the guise of challenge. peel back the layers and you see what it really is.
Sidenote: I could even point out the flaw that IB gear isn't even good enough to compete against pve raid gear. By competing in IB you can't even advance in strength. It's a ladder without another rung to climb up to. A hamster wheel.
This is the first iron banner I haven't participated in. Feels strange, but I can't view IB the same anymore.
If you got this far, thanks for your attention. Peace out.

Keep in mind during HoW, ToO had the best game rewards. if anything, the HoW PvE endgame rewards were disgustingly bad. Since TTK wiped out all Y1 gear, the Raid is currently the best gear available. That will change when ToO starts this weekend.
