And this is simply my opinion on the matter and means jack in the final say, but in all the perms for H3 the only one which did not belong was the Hayabusa armor. It seems so alien to the Halo universe. I know many enjoy the armor and it became 'the armor' to use WITH the Katana until Recon became mass available but I cannot stand looking at it. Personally a big thing that makes something 'halo-esque' is the helm. If the Hayabusa helm was not so 'alien', (when I say that I don't mean ET, I mean alien as it doesn't belong), whereas the body and shoulder pads, (not including the katana), seem to fit. In fact the best aspect is the shoulder pads to see the use of a spaulder with additional lames, I merely wish they had a few more lames added. But that's neither here or there. My whole point in bringing up the Hayabusa issue is because many of the submissions for new armor fit that 'alien' catagory even if they do look pretty cool. I think, personally, liberties can be taken in regards to body, legs and arm armor but the helmets should still retain a certain shape without flanges or additions that make it look so off. As a final point of preference of the submitting ideas, I must comment on the "Viking" one. First off, I think the body looking as if it's Scale armor looks nice, not sure if it should be added to the arms though, a spaulder would fit better there, (in both practicality and historical sense if we're not even talking Chainmail). The Shoulder pads look good as well, I just would lower the horns slightly, but not much, maybe an inch or two and it's good to go. My major complaint comes in the helm. The horns are just over the top, unless you made them flush with the shape of the helmet and if you want it to be Viking, then you should be using a design based on the [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spangenhelm]Spangenhelm[/url] design or something akin to [url=http://monarchy.nl/viking/viking2.gif]this[/url]. While I do agree that a good number of these fan-art armor permutations actually look quite cool, I would really hate to see most of them in any game with the "Halo" label. In my eyes, Halo has a very specific art style, and a lot of these fan creations (and even "official"-but-non-canon examples from other Halo media) depart wildly from that style. They just don't feel "Halo." One could make the argument that the art style need not be followed so closely in multiplayer for the sake of options and fun (i.e. Hayabusa in Halo 3), but I speak more out of personal preference. Keep Halo looking Halo, even if it limits the number of permutations we could get. And take out Hayabusa while you're at it.
