Disturbing Truth behind Oryx's actual gender
Anyone else think that Bungie 's decision to make oryx a transsexual being odd? Anyone doubting me should check their card database.

1 ReplyThe hive are gender neutral when born thrall. They either choose to take the jelly to become a female wizard or choose the path of Knights. I think acolytes r a pre form of the Knights. I'm sure it's possible to become both like oryx.

Oryx isn't transsexual. Auryx (who was female) merged with Akka (who was male) to create one being named Oryx.

I really think they're just gender-neutral. I mean, they reproduce through random ass worms in the ground. Gender doesn't seem to matter much to the Hive. The fallen on the other hand, they're practically humans.

Not really. This is a race of space zombies who sustain themselves by eating evil worms that make them live forever and also destroy them from the inside out. They control space magic and can live forever by separating their souls from their bodies. The Hive's hermaphroditism is the LEAST unreal thing about them. Also, they're not really transgendered. Transgender people are physically one gender but perceive themselves as another. The Hive are most likely hermaphroditic in nature, meaning they have the characteristics of both genders, or they are completely non-gendered; the grimoire isn't completely clear.

Holy -blam!-ing shit he isnt a damn tranny ok! Its a title! That is how the hive work! There are no genders, only titles and duties assigned to those titles. Only wizards can be mother/spawners. Only Oryx can Take. Only Knights can.. be knights, you get the idea. And before you say, "wAzzRds haz b3WbZ," I know, I'm sure that is a design choice to show that the our seen as "mothers."
