No. Gun owners are actually 80% more likely to shoot themselves or an innocent person rather than an offender. Try checking the FBI's actual statistics before telling me about how Americans are all heroes stopping crime.

What the fbi doesn't take into account are the people who don't do that. If those statistics weren't flawed. There would be tons more mass killings than are happening today. You would hear about one happening more than once a day. But no, mass shootings only happen every once in a while. Granted we have had a few in the past couple of months, but this is an exception as it hardly happens. Most people who have guns either have them for protection or recreation. Suicide is a whole different conversation.

Actually yes the FBI do take into account that when they give statistic for firearm incidents. Incidents are not offences and include police officers discharging their firearms as well as citizens. It can then be broke down into individual incidents and offences.

Mass shooting rates have tripled since 2011 with one occurring every 4-6 weeks since then and steadily increasing.

The last link from the FBI shows that on average 11.4 mass shootings occur per year from 2000 - 2013. That is once a month. The others will show that since 2013 mass shootings have increased greatly, with some of the articles mentioning shooting incidents averaging once every 2 weeks. Am I from the U.S.? Yes I was born and lived in North Carolina. I have since moved to Australia but still have friends and family in the US and go back to visit frequently. It seems that you are in fact unaware of what really happens in your own country. Your argument is the only one that is invalid as of now.
