A question for those who completed the exotic sword quest
What's up with this rare material I'm supposed to gather...I got like 30 spinmetal and not one rare material...am I doing something wrong?
Edit: found 8 last night in a little more then an hour...I found 2, went to orbit and repeated...I would go to orbit because it just seemed after you got 1 or 2 they wouldn't drop anymore...thanks for the help guys !

You have to harvest it I left Mars with 683 relic iron It was worth it

I noticed regardless of the materials you were collecting usually average one for every 10 to 12 that you open, just do not open the chest they do not count. At least that was my average for all three swords. Had the arc sword for couple weeks now, solar and void I'll picking up tomorrow.

Use ghost locator, ads sniper, profit

Go back and forth between the forgotten shore, mothyards, and steppes. The spinmetal spawns the most there. And I also found that if you get into an area and your ghost isn't picking up any spinmetal, just go to a turn back zone and die and when you respawn the spinmetal should be there

On average you have to collect about 150 materials to get 10 of the rare ones you need

Relic iron is by far the worst. Spinmetal is the easiest because there are a lot more spawns. You just have to stay with it. Sometimes you will get two of the materials you need from just 6 or 7 spinmetal. Just remember that chests do not count. I have gotten all 3 Exotic swords and never pulled a single rare material I needed from a chest. I know others can confirm this as well.

5 RepliesJust farmed materials for void and arc swords yesterday. 376 relic iron to get the 10 materials for void, 63 spin metal to get the 10 for arc... The grind is real.

Pro tip- When you enter area, pull out sniper and zoom in. It will show all the mats in a much larger radius if you have the proper ghost equipped. Then just head that direction and the normal indicator will pop up. Do this every so often to see then new ones that appear. Pro tip 2- You can get them from chests. It just seems like you can't because of the low drop rate and being there are more nodes then chests. I got a good number from chests across all 3 swords. I'm sure many will post that you cant, but I am proof that they do come from chests as well.

I've done it twice. After the first one, it's not even that bad. Plus, you're a leading expert on Spinmetal/Relic Iron/Helium Filament agriculture sciences.

1 ReplyDepending on the sword, you will have to farm a certain type of material. It can only be obtain from collecting it from the environment. Chests don't count. It's also like 15-20 materials to make one of the rare kind you need. Get a ghost that will show the material on your radar and just farm. It makes it so much easier. I did this for my flame sword. Bought a ghost from the speaker that shows helium on your radar and just farmed the moon.

I got 170 relic iron before I got my 10, just get a ghost shell with whatever mat sensor (I didn't but whatever) it took me about 6 non consecutive hours. Good grinding!

It depends on your sword! Read your quest and it will tell you what Matt's you need to gather, and only floor Matt's will give you it. 10-15 pick ups for 1 not 10-15 Matt's
