Humans are, at this moment in time, a species of ape. You're assuming that everything must change in a certain way, which is wrong, evolution doesn't mean everything progresses to get better at being bigger faster or stronger. It means species evolve to survive, whatever that may entail

And another myth, is that you can't be religious while still believing in science. Science can explain plenty of things. That still doesn't at all mean religion is false
