Is it rude to jump in to help the court of oryx?

So I tried the court of oryx last night for the first time and some peeps were already playing so I jumped in to help. They started to shoot at me and melee me. Is there a code or something that I don't know about or were these guardians just d bags?

    • No I always get in random groups. As long as your not starting a fight that's well above you or the people around then you should be fine. I did that on the first day. Didn't realize what was going on and kept activating the tier 3 fight and Noone was ready for that. They all got mad shot at me and left. Wasn't till a few days later that I realized what was going on.

    • Unless you were making stupid mistakes, they're just douche bags. Every time I join a game in progress, they're either glad for the help, or I simply speed it up by 0.01 seconds cause they already got it handled.

    • As long as you weren't aimlessly killing cursed thrall during krugoor, guiding the two knights away from eachother, or killing one of the 3 wizards before they all were ready to go, then I see no reason they should be shooting you

    • D bags. You should always hop in and help. Just make sure that you aren't breaking the mechanic of the particular boss.

    • No? Most people appreciate it when blueberries show up. It's rude when people stare at you from afar and don't help.

    • As long as you know how to kill the enemies as they spawn, you're good. Each set has their own rule, like the three wizards. Had this one guy keep trying to kill them one by one. It was bad. Or the person that kept shooting cursed thralls and not letting them get close to the ogre. Fun stuff.

Shooting people is how you greet someone in Destiny. It's basic ethics, dude.

        • There's no harm in having more guardians to help so no it's not rude. Just learn the fights and show them you can be an asset.

        • It's only annoying if they don't know what to do. I had someone always killing the cursed thrall without them being close to the ogre and someone else always picking up the damn sword who was clueless on the mini crota. Otherwise it's not bad

        • Saw a group yesterday that was farming the tier 3 Ogre with 3 of coins. Kill him, wait for him to respawn, use a coin, kill him, rinse and repeat. they never touched the witch. So I put my tier 3 in, let them kill the ogre and then I killed the witch lol. needed it for a bounty. I always jump in and help with hopes of them helping me on my rune

        • It's a public event in a public area. So why not? I'd rather have someone jump in and help, even if the only thing they can do is revive you.

          • Before the launch Bungie described it as "the new type of public event" so, yes, the idea is anyone who turns in should wade in and help. I don't see why anyone would complain about getting help to achieve the goal. HOWEVER note that some of the bosses have special mechanics. For example the three wizards must all be killed at roughly the same time so the idea is everyone shoot them to bring their levels down but only once they are all near 0 there's then a co-ordinated push to kill them all together in the limited time window. If you, for example, turn up, see three wizards and just concentrate on one and just keep shooting until it is killed while the other two are still high level then I can see how other might get annoyed and try to dissuade you (shoot/melee/whatever) if you don't know what you are doing. At the first level I think there's only 6 different bosses and so 6 different mechanics to learn. There are loads of websites and videos that explain all this. So before you hit the court you should research it to make sure you know how to handle each type of boss.

          • No. That's why it's in Patrol. It's a shame thats it's usually a ghost town.

Why they were hitting you 1)Wanted you to place a rune 2)You are shoving in unwanted runes 3)You are killing the cursed thralls right when they spawn during the Ogre boss 4)You are keeping the Twin Knights away from each other 5)You are killing the triplet wizards individually 6)You need to focus more on the boss ex. shooting and wasting all the eye multipliers and not even focusing on the boss. (antiquated) 7)You're taking the sword with no idea what to do 8)They like your gear 9)dickbags edit:added more options
