Let me start off by saying I don't give half a -blam!- about yours or my K/D. Just curios as to how many people actually care.
All the time you see people shitting on people cause their K/D is .1% lower then theirs. But does K/D really matter that much?

I don't care for K/D really especially not PvP. Idk my K/Ds but I know I'm a good PvE player lol
-
It is deceptive. I held a 1 to a 1.2 in every CoD game but I can't get above .85 in Destiny. The lag comp in this game is particularly bad. I only play objective based games so I often push into enemy territory. I'm willing to take a death to gain an objective. If I really cared about my KD I could lay back with a sniper and easily pull a 2.0.
-
Not really because I like to just -blam!- around in crucible at times and get those bad kds
-
It represents the amount of people still using thorn
-
No. I usually just mess around and have fun. Does that say I don't possess crucible skill?
-
No not really, I have a bad K/D only because Up until House of Wolves is when I realized we actually had a K/D, I'd usually mess around and follow enemies around haha, I know I can do good and i'd say i'm a bit higher than average, I got the Phantom medal in rumble.

Kd is an indicator but is a deceiving one. Also, people do place to much importance on it, saying things like 1.5 or better means your good. 1.0 or higher is good imo, especially if you mainly pvp on your own. It's easy to pad your kd playing with a group of other decent players. There's also a way to check a person's recent kd, by month and week. This is a better indicator of how well you are playing lately.
-
Kind of. Lots of players pad stats by pubstomping the big playlists. I'd say Trials KD means the most because you can't pub stomp it.

Edited by timelordlogan: 10/12/2015 12:21:05 AMI'll play with you as long as you're above a .8 I used to be almost at a 2, but then I started doing the glitch where you could unequip everything and going into games with nothing but a dregs promise and a khvostov That'll do a number on ya
-
Having a positive kd does but it also matters if they have a good personality
-
Only if they actually got top 3
-
It isn't the absolute indicator of PvP skill, but it still says a lot about a player.

Edited by xPLASMAx21: 10/12/2015 12:10:10 AMHaving a good KD often correlates to competence at gunfighting in general. You rarely find straight-out Blink Shotgun players with high KDs because its a very risk/reward play, whereas primary players tend to score higher. While I understand that you can be useful through assists and objective captures, there is only so much that can do for you in a shooter, particularly in modes like Control and Rift, where kills are still vital for point scoring and map control. Generally speaking, I'd propose that a high KD is important, because killing more than you die is good in all situations.
-
Definitely doesn't. All it means is that you can go into pubs with a team, and/or stay in the back with a sniper and never actually get in a gunfight. Sure, having a .3 kd might say something, but in the long run, it really doesn't matter.

1 ReplyPuddin fck yeah

1 ReplyI do not believe a kill/death ratio represents skill, you can have a player on control with a KDR of 4 but not going for any zones or defending crucial objectives. Skill = being able to assess a situation on a larger scale (the whole battlefield) and act accordingly, knowledge of their own abilities and their enemies (to an extent the gear enemies are using and how to combat them).
-
Destiny has supers and an unbalanced PvP system. K/D far from matters in this game lmfao.
-
To a extent yes.
-
That depends. Did they use a thorn/TLW and matador for 6 months? Are they a booster? Do they camp?
-
In destiny, k/d means nothing. You can sit back and snipe all game or have spammed thorn and felwinters year 1. In games like halo, however, where everyone has access to the same couple of "primary" weapons, a high k/d means you're probably good.
-
Kd matters in everything that has to do with a shooter.. Unless you're playing an objective game time outside of destiny.. I say outside of destiny cause destiny objective games reward kills and lack of dying.. Rift for example.. You can win with more kills.. Salvage more kills can win.. Control more kills can win.. Even in pve aspect.. If someone is killing more and dying less, they're more skillful than someone who's not killing as much and dying more (kill to death ratio) People who don't think it measures skill will argue that you have to know how to play the objective as well whether that's pvp or pve and that's true but if you knew how to play the objective that well you wouldn't be dying that much would you.. (Also I consider raid kd not being as important just cause people tend to have to wipe after mistakes from a single player. Other than that high kd can and I say can and not indefinitely is a good measure of skill)
-
Yes and no Yes if You have have a good k/d if your leading your team meaning if you stick your neck out to kill without help And no if your the one helping your team by grenades and punches to get assistance
-
Kinda I let my 7 and 9 yr old kids play NY account and they arn't every good so they bring it down a bit. If some one has a 1.5 or higher in would say they are pretty decent.
-
If you want to measure shooter "skill" play CS:GO. Destiny Crucible is kinda just for fun really. The people I know that do well in IB and Trails don't even take them very seriously.
-
A little bit. You don't base everything off of it, but it contributes to your skill.
