How can people defend the sunbreaker super?

[b]EDIT AFTER FINAL EDIT:[/b] I absolutely agree that the neutral game is not the strongest, but I feel like it would be fine if It were not for the ridiculous strenght of the nightstalker's perks. After playing around with the SB, I still feel the super is too strong for the good of the crucible, but I also felt like my only usable tools were skate, grenade, and shitty melee. The super SHOULD be nerfed but the class should get some better perks too. --------------------------------------------------- What was the most "OP" super in PvP before TTK? Now compare it to Sunbreaker. Now explain to me how sunbreaker is balanced. If Suros regime one shot to the body I could say the same thing. You need to give up your knife juggler for incendiary blade, you need to give up chain of woe for over the horizon. Golden gun is not GUARANTEED 3 kills. Sunbreaker super lasts 26 seconds while GG lasts for [u]11[/u]. You don't get damage resistance with golden gun and you can easily tank it with other supers. You can't tank a hammer. I don't want to nerf SB just because they kill me all the time but because they are too powerful. I also feel like all three new TTK subclasses completely outrank old ones and it should also be taken a look at. As well as buffing old ones. Additionally, I hate the fact that PvP and PvE have to be balanced proportionally. So please stop telling me about PvE because GG and BD suck at that too.     • Here are the main defenses I've seen: The rest of the subclass sucks outside of the super- this is valid and is the case of the Gunslinger, which is considered to be one of the stronger pvp subclasses, whose only strong pvp perks are trip mine or incendiary grenades and the super. This is a strong and logical argument, and really the main one out there. The super is very strong, but the subclass doesn't have any major benefits outside of this (although the grenades are pretty good). Titans deserve to have a good super now for pvp because they didn't in year 1- This one is just wrong, Titans did not have it bad in year 1 any more than the other classes. The striker wasn't as good as the Hunter for pvp, but it was really good, and Titans had it easy in PVE, which is something people tend to skip over. Here's the way I look at the classes in year 1: PVP: Hunter is strongest Warlock is a very close second Titan is a pretty close third PVE: Titan is best Warlock is a very close second Hunter is a pretty close third Titans dominated PVE while the hunters ruled pvp, with warlocks well balanced in both, but none of this is by a huge margin like some claim. Honestly I don't think the Sunbrekaer subclass needs a whole lot changes, just a minor tweak to damage reduction, I would recommend bringing it down to 50% to match the other supers that have damage reduction. It might happen in the patch tomorrow, we'll see, but I don't think it will have any huge effect on pvp either way.

      • Okay I am going to start by saying that I have yet to level my Titan for TTK, have a 240light Sith Lord, but have been maining (as per the usual) my Bow-man Hunter. So sorry if I state wrong info. The OP seems to have a misunderstanding of the subclass and neutral play. This is clear when he/she rips Gunslinger neutral play as "garbo". Gunslingers actually have amazing neutral play, being top 3 (in my opinion*) of best PvP subclasses. The focus is to maintain distance and accurately dispatch targets before they can come close to you. Hence they have Tripmines, Throwing Knifes (2 that can refresh indefinitely if you maintain headshots), perks to boost gunplay, etc. Yes most kills for Gunslingers probably come from the super, but if you say the neutral play is "garbo" you are just not doing it right. It is not [b]amazing, don't confuse me,[/b] but it stands as one of the best 1v1 subclasses. Neutral play in PvP is [b]key[/b]. As a whole (just glancing so Sunbreakers please augment or disprove my words at your disgression), Sunbreakers seem to play as the more [i]direct[/i] Bladedancer. Having main'd Bladedancer, I regonize it's strength in Year 1 PvP. Stealth players (like myself) were able to ambush several targets at once, Flux & Arc Bolt grenades were great for any game type, Hungering Blade granted health regen in and out of Super, etc etc etc. Sunbreakers seem to be very similar, yet having more tankish qualities than the self-utility Bladedancers. With the exception of a short ranged melee, they have decently average neutral play. [b](As an aside: Sunstrike is nowhere EVER near as broken as Scorch + Flameshield)[/b] Fusion grenade is a wonderful sticky, Cauterize is much like Hungering Blade, and proper Sunspot usage could make Sunbreakers a strong force. But this is no more difficult to handle to any current neutral play class (perhaps except a Sunsinger). Admittedly, the super Hammer of Sol seems too strong, being a strange mix of both Year 1 hunter subclasses. Being a timed super it has great mobility, but further has: Cauterize with Hammer of Sol (Hungering Blade + Arc Blade/Blink Strike), infinite while active throwing hammers that OHKO (Gunslinger Golden Gun), possibility for damage reduction with Sunspots (unaware if HoS has innate damage reduction like Arc Blade), etc etc. If there is a damage reduction that comes with HoS, that is no different and no more difficult to handle that a Bladedancer (or Sunsinger without overshield). I would not say that the subclass is OP, but the super does seem too to the point that it does overwhelm enemies. [b]However[/b], as 90% of Sunbreakers currently use a similar skill set-up, the opinion of the PvP community may change when players decide to use different perks and exotics (example: using the Hammer charge or using the exotic gauntlets that grant 2 melee charges)

        • I main a titan and I may say hammer of sol is op. I killed a couple of them but that was the whole team shooting him. I think this does need to be toned down a bit. I also know it's a super and there supposed to be OP but not this OP.

        • ok its getting annoying when all u titans say hunters op cuz bladedancer look at strikers become invincible during foh animation u can 1 shot a arc blade golden gun nova bomb a defender a sunsinger with a decent shotgun or sniper can u 1 shot a sunbreaker with either no can u golden gun a sunbreaker no can u 1 shot razoredge a sunbreaker no yea im a hunter main n proud of it but when im using my titan n im sunbreaker in crucible n im getting fired on by everyone n not dying n my super lasted forever n im killing 2 or more ppl with 1 hammer then yea sunbreaker r a bit op i dont care bout the whole getting killed by the super I just get in a sunbreaker face n arc blade him but u guys should agree u need a nerf to the damage u can take leave everything the same

          • First of all I love my titan now if you were a titan for year one and loved to play PvP you would under stand what we had to go through we couldn't count on are super to take out a lot of people we would always save our super for the right moment till we see 2 or more people together that's when we would use our fist of havoc ya can't get mad at titans because even without sunbreaker we are still tanks that can take more damage then any hunter and warlock if you say nerf the hammer of soy health would be cheap because that's all we got going for our subclass our grenades suck ass our melee even worst and our perks for our subclass revolves on us either using our supercharger or saving our supercharge and really what titan really wants to save a hammer of soy ? Its only fair that we get this because look at the hunters they have arc blade with BLINK at that and if your good with that super you can take out the whole team and you had that op arc-bolt grenades we titans don't even get blink and that's not fair , look at the gunslinger subclass you got trip mine grenades that you can kill someone with you have throwing knives you can land a body shot and throw a knife and boom dead plus if you land a head shot with it you get it right back and now golden gold that you can kill like 3 people if they are together with ONE SHOT and you talking about titans op ? Oh please now ya got this new subclass that can shut down anyone super with a bow and ya get a poison grenade with shadestep that's like another blink right there . TO ALL MY TITANS OUT THERE , LET'S ALL GO INTO IRON BANNER AND LET'S DESTROY ANYONE WHO GETS BETWEEN OUR HAMMER .                 My SB gets locked down by the suppression effect of the Hunter's arrows relatively often? I wonder what would happen if they made it 2 shot with decent splaah damage, but you threw faster and each hammer took less out of the super bar than it does currently.

              • Excellent presentation. You've covered absolutely everything about this super and posed some very solid ideas for fixes. Anyone that disagrees with what you have to say either has a (hopefully) better idea for a fix or is just plain blind to what is wrong with this super. I can't deny that it is fun as hell to use though! ;D

              • Y is everyone complaining about it, when they pop there super u hear it and don't go near him till it's over. You only get your super maybe 3 times a match, more or less if your lucky or not, but my point is it's good the way itis, maybe they need to take some of the armor down on it but that's it.

If not Sunbreaker it's Bladedancer, if not that; it's the Thorn, or the Gally, or shotguns, or whatever happens to be causing you all specifically to lose. Grow a pair and just play.

                    I am one of the butthurt warlocks who hate the sunbreakers, but with all claims theres always a rebuttal and i got one for ya. The titan sunbreaker is just called thor/fix it felix, its okay nicknames for an overpowered super. The hunter golden gun was/still is kinda op but the nickname golden penis, i mean seriously???? Would you rather be killed by a greek god or some chunky dude who covered his penis in gold alluminum foil? Theres my statement on why sunbreakers are ok in the crucible!

                      • I originally posted this on a similar thread - To both sides: Sometimes having an argument is like playing chess with a Chicken....it doesn't matter what play you make because the Chicken is going to crap on the board, knock over the pieces, and strut around like he is winning anyway. Bungie will check the in game data and make changes based on that. If you want to skew the data, get ALL of your friends to use their Sunbreakers in PvP and you will ensure a nerf. Don't play chess with a Chicken....Eat the Chicken.

                        • Ah yes, a hunter main with a fledgling titan on his profile. I would go into a lengthy explanation about how the sunbreaker subclass is incredibly one-dimensional revolving almost entirely around the super at the cost of any neutral game (where every other subclass makes up the advantage), but you're not going to listen because it's not what you believe. That's the crux of these threads, each person stands on their side screaming at the other and nobody is convinced of the other's points.
