Why do playstation users send friend requests?

This drives me nuts, on lfg everyone sends friend request on playstation. On xbox everyone politely sent a msg and we would send a game/party inv...playstation users stop sending friend requests unless it says send friend request, some people don't want their friends list clogged up with random people I'll add you if I like you enough to play with again./endrant

  • I mean, it says add so and so. And there's a thing called remove from your friends list, sooooo, what's your point?

  • A good majority of PlayStation users expect you to add them and carry you. I personally got sick of it and made it only friends of friends can try to add me. Problem solved

  • Because as far as I'm aware you have to be a friend or in the same area as the other so send a direct invite

Try send party invite on for size. It works wonders. If they send a friend request then ignore them. Why would you want to grp with people that cant follow simple directions? ;)

        • Because its way faster to send a request then to type out a message. By the time you type out a message your spot on the fireteam will have already been taken by someone else. You can clean up your friends list, it aint hard.

        • Wouldn't you then be sending a friend request? If the person likes you, they send one as well. Seems like the same thing.

        • I used to be a stuck up prick about friend requests too, then I realized there's no reason to get upset about it. Now I just add people (well not really anymore, because I have enough people to call on already) and leave them in my list unless they suck or are rude/annoying. Every couple weeks I'll go through my list, and if I don't recognize a name (meaning I haven't played with them much or recently) I remove that person from my list. It's simple, and I have an easy time finding people for any activity now. I play regularly with plenty of people who I kept on my list using that method.

        • On Xbox its easy to send an invite. How do you send an invite on PS4 I switched to PS4 and have never figured it out. Plus all the post on the forums say "add and join" so is that not adding as a friend to join game? If there is a better faster way please for the love of God tell me how.

          • I don't use my PlayStation very often, can you not invite people to your game if your not friends with them on it?

          • step 1: Accept friend request Step 2: Finish activity Step 3: Delete from friends list Step 4: Profit I use lfg all the time since I don't have enough friends to complete the Oryx raid, only have 2 that play daily. I add them to friends and then delete them unless I like them. Really easy to do.

            • Lies, I always get random invites on XBL with message asking for anything. I politely message them "Learn some gaming etiquette please"

              • Just stick to xbox then. With a PS it's just that much easier if they're on your friends list.

              • I'd imagine they want to avoid lfg in the future and just spam invites. Clan mates are the only ones I send em 2.

                  • Tbh sometimes I ask them to add me to their group chat so I can join the fireteam. I can't add them to my group chat without adding them as friends since I haven't tried to figure out how to add them to the chat without a friend request.
