The whole beginning speech is Mara talking to Eris, and the entire ending speech is Eris responding to Mara. The whole "crawled out of that pit" bit is an obvious reference to Eris escaping the hive tunnels on the moon.

In all likelihood Mara is talking to Eris for the monolog. It’s just that the way the footage was shown got me thinking Mara may know Oryx, which got me into the Book of Sorrow and a tinfoil hat. I think whether Taox is the Queen or not I think she is going to come into the story arc somewhere. She did survive 2400 years from Fundament to the Ammonites and Oryx mentions her again in Calcified Fragments: Insight: [quote]If I am defeated I know it will be because my understanding of the universe was incomplete. I failed to anticipate some strategy, some nemesis. (Perhaps Taox, if she still lives.)[/quote] Who knows, we keep reading/hearing about Tolland, and Osiris and they still haven’t made an entrance. Maybe she will pop up in grimoire and weird in game item descriptions till Destiny 4.
