Almost EVERY game has some kind of micro-transaction like this. As they've said it won't impact the gameplay in any way, so if you don't like it then don't buy it, it's a pretty simple concept really.

I came to laugh at all the people who believe click-bait articles like that over the games community manager. Deej said where the money was going so in two months when theres no new free DLC I'll also be laughing at the entitled crybabies like you, who think because they bought a dance move Bungie owes them free content.
