Collectors edition class specific exotics can be equipped with exotic armor already equip.
Notice the Def lvl tho...you can't infuse I believe and they only 170 light

Only the Factions class items have the "life exptic" perk that allows this. The collectors ones do not allow another armor to be equipped.
