You know counterstrike:GO is the most professionalize MLG shooter that exists to date and their microtransactions consist of simply cosmetic items that reskin your gun or knife - those funds go towards maintaining the servers and programming past the $60 purchase price, which is exactly what destiny will do.
It's a business decision that's for the better. And I hate microtransactions in games. But this is a great source of higher revenues for an MMORPG has a dedicated player base of 12Mil + around the world and the only source of income is the initial purchase price of $60 (which is the equivalent to 2 movie theatre visits meanwhile 100x the entertainment value just based on hours spent:$ spent ratio). It will only help the players receive the patches they want with certain bugs or even help us get cheaper DLC content as being discussed.
Again it can only help the players. And if you think otherwise then try killing even a level 2 thrall with your left d-pad dance emote.... then come back...

Except we have ALL paid more than 60$ already to play the game. Most of us spent around 140$, so multiply that by the 12+ million you claim and shove that up your a$$.
those funds go towards maintaining the servers
What servers? This is the part I have a serious issue with. Their Peer to peer garbage. Fix the peer to peer garbage and then we can consider some micro transactions. How about in-game LFG? How about better vault management where I can say how many of an item I want to remove? How about an ammo symnth emote, you know, one I can use with the D-pad? Seriously. Huge holes in the game and yet they want more money.
-
They have people they borrowed money off of to make this game.... The have salaries.... What happens when you don't pay rent.... Or when you don't pay utilities??? To fix said shit requires money.... Basic economics... You don't have to buy them. Hell you didn't have to buy the expansions!!! Probably better if you go and never come back...

Wow, that is a typical fanboy response. The game is sold and marketed one way. They are trying to sneak in several different type of game marketing and pricing into something that should not be. When you find next year you have to pay $200 to play the game, because people let this get out of hand, remember how it started. And I will either stay or leave if I want to. And because of your attitude, even if I leave the game I may haunt the forums just to irritate people like you. If alot of the holes in the game as stated above were to be corrected, it may be worth it to pay more. As it is, they are looking to collect more and more money from the players, yet add very very little. That has been their trend and they keep pushing the envelope. $200 is not a stretch my friend. Be aware....

I would pay money for an ammo synth emote

Mint post. 100% but most of the destiny players seem to be screaming children and have no clue how businesses (or the world outside) work.

Movies are expensive where you're from.
-
Life is expensive when you pay for a woman and yourself, in general.
-
Still though man, $15 a ticket? $7.50 where I'm from.
-
Nice 8$ for me
-
Depends on the theatre you go to. The establishments that tend to have cheaper ticket prices are also cranking up the food prices. You can keep a movie ticket under ten dollars but if you decided to get some form of food and a soda/beer you will shoot past 20 per person.

Edited by iktharius: 10/6/2015 2:48:54 PMI also might add that World of Warcraft has had set prices unlike CS:GO trading market and it has never affected gameplay or fairness Blizzards publisher is Activision as well, I believe.
-
Where the hell do you go to the movies that it costs you $30?
-
Well I take my fiancé or friends so
-
Movie tickets are $11 a piece 5 plus per drink plus any snacks. Easy to spend 30+ on two people
-
If you buy snacks or drinks at the movies you're doing it wrong
-
If you bring snack or drinks in to a movie you are doing it wrong.

Edited by iCraig93: 10/6/2015 3:48:30 PMYes, completely worth paying 200-500% of the price for stuff. Logic prevails again I see.
-
Not logic just not worth getting kicked out and losing the money you spent for the tickets.
-
I have always had my gf take snacks/ water bottle in her purse, literally never been caught. Back when my dad was still alive he snuck burgers in his cargo pants pockets, never caught lmao
-
lol your dad is a legend.
-
That's great i see people kicked out every time i go to the movies for it. Different levels of security i guess.
-
I agree with you. Well made points.

It can indeed work out like CS:GO or TF2, where everything stays cosmetic forever and the funds help pay for content and service. However, the possibility of it falling down a slippery slope of pay to win is entirely possible and has happened with many other games. Being worried about the future of this micro transaction store is very justified considering how greedy of a company activision is. But, I guess we'll see what happens.
