Destiny is NOT an mmo... what is massive about 16 players?
People still think this game is an mmo....
Have you people ever played one before?
MMO stands for massive multiplayer online..
16 players is not massive..... battlefield is more of an mmo than Destiny ever would be...
Edit: and no leveling up and getting better gear has nothing to do with an mmo... thats called "rpg elements"

1 ReplySeems like current MMOs to me. The center hub where it's all quiet, nobody is in the chat log cuz they're in guild chat. While out in the world you rarely see people, let alone talk cuz there's no need to make friends since the dungeon finder takes care of that for you. It's just a shame. Beautiful worlds created, but laid to waste because it's not utilized for anything.

I agree Destiny isn't an MMO. What no one should deny though is the fact that Destiny has enough MMO-like elements to warrant the comparisons to true MMO's

Destiny isn't an MMO. Only idiots will dispute that. Bungie themselves have said, time and time again, that Destiny is not an MMO. But it does use MMORPG [i]elements[/i]. No, the gear progression, gear resets etc. are not simply RPG elements. They have been adapted from MMORPG's. People simply say MMO because that's what they've been shortened to these days. When was the last time your gear was completely reset playing Skyrim? Probably never. When was the last time your gear was reset playing an MMORPG? Basically every time there's an expansion drop, or hell, even a new raid tier. Kinda like Destiny, no?

Is destiny acting up for anyone else lately? I'll join a game in crucible and no one would be there.. Not even the ball would be their on rift.. But if I check the game it would be full of people.. What is goin on?

So cute used to mean that someone was perceptive and had nothing to do with looks. Bully was also used to call someone sweetheart. And everyone knows how the word "gay" evolved.

3 Repliesactually the term mmo is anything that allows you to interact with others in an open worldish (even limited one like destiny) look at guildwars its a mmo and it was instanced based. Look at warframe mmo but instanced.

2 RepliesIf the tech were better or things played nicely then I imagine we'd be able to play cross console but only for each gen, so PS3 and Xbox 360 play together and ps4 and XOne play together. Even better if a system like SAO were developed and we could play destiny like that...

This MMO has the tiniest maps of any MMO game I've seen. I really expected open-world maps like DC Universe Online. Too bad Destiny didn't take the good stuff this and other hybrid MMO games did. At least they got the [b]NERF[/b] part down real well.
