I now know how to feel about this. It says Oryx is transgender and morphed into a male to become the King. In the Grimoire.

Forget the article, have you guys seen the comments? There are some internet scientists down there. Biologists, physiogists, philosophers, you name it.

Don't apply human physiology to Hive physiology.

16 RepliesEdited by Wraith Chaser: 10/5/2015 10:09:11 PMDumbest -blam!-ing article I've ever read. Trying to get hits and generate a controversy out of something that's not is pretty pathetic. The biggest jarring and apparent error here is that Oryx (and the rest of the hive) is a sequential hermaphrodite which means they are all born as females and later in their life cycle they either stay a female or transform genetically into a male. It's how the -blam!-ing species works, just like a clownfish. Oryx did not choose to become a man because he felt like he identified as one or because he thought he should have always been one.. There's absolutely 0 parallels here between the Hive and Transgendered people. You cannot compare gender/sex or anything to an alien species that reproduces in an entirely different way than humans. Stupid -blam!-ing retarded article. No hate here on the OP just saying whoever wrote this is a moron. -Edited for spelling

Not true he was a girl but then died to become a guy
-
from a literal standpoint yes. but hive don't really have human gender concepts. to them, "female"=unfinished or wizard, "male"=knight. notice oryx has a knight like head (triangular)
-
2 RepliesThe thing is most people are applying human physiology to a different race of beings. This is like saying that snails or some types of fish are Transgender when if fact they are either asexual or can change their gender. I know the grimoire uses the terms female and male but I think it's all abstract and not a literal usage. But this is all just my opinion so grain of salt and all that.

That's why I don't do this raid. It's not my inability to first person platform. It's my dislike of hate crime.

Technically the worms the Hive consume allow the host to transform and alter their shape as they wish. This ability is seen by Thralls becoming Acolytes, and then depending on gender, Acolytes become either Wizards to produce new spawn or Knights to become warriors against the enemies of Hive. Oryx took the form of a Knight (of sorts) and the Hive followed in this path since the beginning. Savathun, one of Oryx's sisters, is the form of a Wizard - as she always wanted to be a mother when she was growing up on Fundament so she could live longer. (Found in grimoire.) The Hive emulate this path and Wizards are mothers of the Hive.

Oryx is the titular character in Destiny: The Taken King.
I see what they did there...
-
The species Oryx A.K.A. Aurash was a part of before he created and turned into the hive were all genderless O wouldn't say transgender but instead just gender absent, of you are a worthy heir to the osmium throne you are male and if you take in the mother jelly you are female
-
Oryx is a brave and courageous hero to the trans community just like Caitlyn.
-
Would make sense since some animals do that in the wild. Don't see why it needs to be brought up and paraded in front of everyone. I mean, who would do that about their sexuality? *proceeds to get bombarded by hot women drinking red bulls and riding monster trucks with a rainbow and gay pride parade chaser

The Book of Sorrows is so fun to read. Dare I say it reminded me of Dante's Inferno.

1 ReplyOryx a.k.a Caitlyn Jenner!
-
1 ReplyOryx wasn't given his powers, he stole them from Akka years after his birth from the worm gods. Akka had the power of taking and bending dimensions, but you know oryx stole them. Also a joke, Scrota son of Orgyix
-
For all these fake white knights, Oryx chose to have the King Worm, therefore chose to be male.
Lol at something I saw about a week ago, good job guys.
-
Now they added a wiggler to him Go ask your mom why boys have wigglers and girls don't
-
2 RepliesNo, he is not a transgender, he is a sequential hermaphrodite. All the hive are. Born female but can become male in adult life.
-
2 RepliesOryx was always a boy it's unclear but hinted at...
