I was wondering why people look everything up on youtube and guides to get the raid done as fast as possible. It pretty much ruins the whole experience. Yeah it takes a lot longer going in blind. For all the people that didn't I recomend doing it next time. Iv had a great time so far. People were like NOOOOOOO you can't do golgeroth blind you will never figure it out. Didn't take that long to figure out. People said oryx is impossible without strategy, we'll we got him to half in a couple hours of trying, as in 2. I'm wondering how many other people went in blind.
Edit: if you have a spoiler in your post please use the spoiler quote as there are many people in here who have no finished the raid and I would not like to spoil it for them. Thanks in advance.

because it is near impossible to find a group that will let someone in that doesn't know what to do. I have not looked at ANY videos yet, but if I want to do the raid some time this year I am going to have to and then lie about whether I have done it before to find a group. Its sad. I tried 4 times now to get a group of Kings Fall noobs together but everytime the group dissolves before we even make it into the damn raid. Did find a group at one point and went as far as golgorath but everyone had to go to bed for work and have never been able to get every one together again. ready to give up and go back to solo play

5 RepliesSome of us don't have a couple of hours to blow on getting 1 boss to half health. Real life > video game.

3 RepliesWe are trying it blind tonight. We finally got 290+ so we are giving it a shot. Cant wait.

Edited by ZEN: 10/6/2015 3:45:45 PMI did all that with the vault. Good times. Crota raid was a joke. Kings fall was released too early- I wasn't about to trudge along dying to kill acolytes because I wasnt lucky enough to get good defense/attack value drops.

Went in blind and had a blast the day it dropped. It was awesome, after 4 hours on golgoroth, we knew the mechanics but had to watch a video about a good strat. Definitely worth the struggle, it's super fun!

1 ReplyCause them bitches cant raid right

Me and my group went in semi blind. We had a guy who had done it before, but he wouldn't tell us anything about it and let us figure it out for ourselves. When we did figure out what we were suppose to do, he then would tell us tips on how to be more efficient. Didn't beat Oryx yet unfortunately, but can't wait to try again. All in all, it's a very fun and engaging Raid that people can't carry you thro.

2 RepliesComplaining about how people want to play? Just wow

I went blind up to oryx

2 RepliesMy problem is, I only have one day a week where I can sacrifice that kind of time. And truthfully, I don't want to spend my entire time figuring out a raid. I'd at least like one person who knows what they're doing.

I went in the raid for the first time blind and it was a blast! We only got to golgorath in 2 hours but it was fun. Second character went much quicker but I only ever made it to golgorath again. I did beat him on both but that is all the further I got. People left and new people came in that had done it before and wanted to speed run everything with no communication and constant bitching. I left. I really want to find a group that is willing to talk and work things out without any animosity to someone for not getting it perfect on their first try. If anyone needs another player on PS4 tonight, I have a 296 warlock and 295 titan psn ID= DurzoBlint13

I agree I work everyday till 6 have a girlfriend that I have to attend to also and I would never ruin my raid experience. So fun to walk in try and figure things out, getting frustrated and when finally beating it that feeling of accomplishment is great.

Some have other priorities such as girlfriends, school, and sports and need to do other stuff in their free time

I did a blind raid lastnight and it was sooooo much fun. It was my first kf raid and we made it to oryx! Lol that oger tho!dayum!

Going in blind is great if you have a team that wants to do that and the time to do so. I don't have a usual group I play with. So if I join a random group, there is some expectation that I am prepared. I tend not to watch videos, but I will read an overview of each section. If I had a normal fire team and those guys were up for it, I would love going in blind. As you said, the act of discovery can be fantastic. As it is, I do what I need to to get into a group and have it go (hopefully) somewhat smoothly.
-
Winning is the experience I'm after. Couldn't give fewer shits about discovery or figuring it out etc. My experience is not altered by watching a guide.

Looking forward to lots of boring, regurgitated "I payed for the game so don't you dare tell me how to play" replies to this post. Yawn. Managed up to the sisters on the first night but by the time we got round to finishing it, most people knew the general mechanics from word of mouth. That first run was great fun though.

I did it 100% blind. Was incredibly fun and worthwhile :)

16 RepliesEyes on the prize, an addicting reward system. It's the age of more in a face down generation. Why pay a game? Because fake-progress. I disagree. It's about the challenge to me. Come raid challenge with me, light cap is 261-265 to participate!

... well try running it with some randoms on LFG ... Most wont finish the raid in 5 hours even WITH VIDEO's The average skill of gamers on this game is so incredible low... you need to ask people to know mechanics...or with most people you will never finish it... I agree for a competent group of people... its fun to figure it out yourselves and a blast to do it blind... But if you have more then 1 incompetent person ... like most groups on LFG ... god help you ! Props for prooving to all the noobs you can figure this out yourselves ... they seem to demand people with experience help them a lot of times... weird if you ask me...

2 RepliesThe Vault of Glass is an adventure (I want to design an oracle night light), Crota's End was thrilling (so many THRALLS!), and King's Fall is an excellent raid (Tomb surfing and hanging out on the hammer wall). But the raiding experience has definitely changed since the Vault. I wanted to do King's Fall "blind". Thats how I've done raids in the past. I remember wondering what the heck those glowing yellow orbs where in the vault of glass the first time (Should I shoot them? Why are they so musical? Why do they keep killing me? I just want to be friends). At the moment though, I have to play at odd hours from my clan, so I had to find a team through destinytracker.com's lfg chat. After finally finding a team that was ok with a first timer, which was a considerable undertaking in and of itself (This was only 8 days after the raid was made available, I might add, and everyone only wanted 300+ and experienced, hence the difficulty), I made it into the raid. Every fighting encounter was meet with, "Oh wait, Lemon doesn't know how to do this. Lets stop so he can youtube it". I asked for them to just explain it, or show me. They said it was too hard to explain (which if you haven't been in yet, is a lie. Every fight mechanic is easily explained, if not so easily executed). I was also threaten with getting kicked, when I stopped for all of ten seconds to just look around a room. The was no sense of adventure, or exploration. This wasn't even a game, it was a chore to be done, a task to be completed. It was depressing. While I got good gear for my first run (305 shell, and 309 (heck yeah!) chest piece), I would have gladly traded it in for a better first raid experience.
